whats the best way of gaining employment with a brick laying company?
May 18, 2008 by slkempy | Posted in Small Business
I have been accepted for an adult apprenticeship and i am struggling to gain an employer, any help or ideas?
Have a ring around local building companies (yellow pages). Bit of a downturn at the moment but some might be taking on. Ask family and friends if they know of any building firms they might know.
Spend some time thinking and writing down what you want to say. You could try asking to speak to someone about bricklaying as a career and use that as a springboard to checking out any vacancies they have.
What about the trade union or trade associations? They might know of vacancies. You could also try your local job centre (not an ideal choice but you never know)
Good luck

What's a good affiliate company for a brick and mortar pawn shop?
Dec 29, 2008 by chemlabrat | Posted in Small Business
I've seen several pawn shops and variety stores that plaster a dozen affiliate ads on their stores like "Sign up for home phone service" or "Sign up for DSL" or "Pay you DishNetwork, BellSouth, etc. Bill here". What are some good affiliate programs for brick and mortar stores, and where can you find them? They seem hidden from the standard searching I've been doing.
Hello,
I really enjoy http://www.FlexOffers.com they have a huge variety of programs and products. It is FREE and Easy to configure. I have not seen your website but I suppose it is divided into category listings. Because FlexOffers has so many programs covering many different industries you can have very specific/relevant ads running on your pages.
So if you have a used CD or DVD section, you may apply for programs in that area and have those Ads appear only on the DVD area while fashion/shoes/apparel affiliates ads can run on your clothes category... Give it a try, as I said, it is free.
Oh, I almost forgot to mention they have many different technological ways of displaying your ads, so even if you are not a super programmer you will still be able to make it happen

A brick company found that 4% of its bricks were defective. If 400 bricks are checked at random, what is the?
Mar 19, 2007 by Do you Have it in you? | Posted in Mathematics
A brick company found that 4% of its bricks were defective. If 400 bricks are checked at random, what is the probability that there are more than 22 defective bricks?
a. 0.2618
b. 0.1859
c. 0.1254
d. 0.0486
e. 0.0150
f. none of these
This probability can be approximated using a normal approximation. That is because
mean = np = 16 and
sd = sqrt{np(1-p)} = sqrt(400*0.04*0.96) = 3.92.
Since we are using the normal, then we will have to make a correction on the 22. Since we want to find the proportion above 22, but not including 22, then we will want to start at 22.5 and shade to the right on our normal. So now this is just a normal, so find z.
z = (22.5-16)/3.92
= 1.66
Using the standard normal table, you get the area to the right as 0.0485, so the answer is d.

Good puzzle for large dogs
I have a 3 year old Doberman so I was worried about some of the Ottosson puzzles being too small for him. This one is perfect. He thinks he can solve everything with power (he's a Schutzhund dog), but this puzzle makes him slow down and think. He figured out how to make it turn on all 3 levels in one sitting, but it took a little longer to figure out how to get the bones out in order to get underneath. This was great for him cause he has to be "gentle" and lick the bones in order to get them to pop out. This is a great toy; although he figured it out quickly, he gets very excited when I get it out. I'm hooked on the Ottosson puzzles now, and I'll be getting another one shortly. What a great way to bond with your dog, keep his mind active, and keep him happy. I use his food for treats and feed him a little less at dinner. I wouldn't recommend using treats - too many are needed and they're not good for your dog!
I also have a Savannah cat. I have been trying to teach her how to use it as well. She's definitely not as quick as the Dobie, (also not as food motivated) but she understands how to turn the top level already to get her favorite treat. Good purchase all around for pet owners!

My dogs and cat love it!
I bought the Dog Brick for my pitbull, thinking that perhaps the cat would like it as well. I didn't think my older cocker would like it because it is more of a nose nudging puzzle and she strongly prefers paw tasks. It turns out that all three of them love it. Although the white bones are harder to get out with a paw than the nose (or grabbing them with teeth), my older dog has mastered using it with her paws. My pitbull loves it as well, and they will even play together. The cat loves it as well. They all learned to work it very quickly, but it doesn't seem to grow old for them and they will hang out while the others play waiting their turn.
I would highly recommend this for an indoor game for you and your dog or cat. It isn't something to just keep them entertained on their own or a self-feeder (get a Kong for your dog or Tiger Bowl for your cat if that is what you are looking for), but it is something fun and easy to do together inside quietly.

Very Disappointed In the Tornado
Even though this is my dog's first interactive toy, he started turning the sections as soon as I put it down for him to sniff, and that was without treats in it!!! I loaded it with treats and used the bones, but he had the entire thing emptied in about two minutes at the most. This was listed as a hard level toy, but if you have an intelligent dog, don't waste your money. My dog loves it but he unloads it about as fast as I can load it. Maybe that is why it is called "interactive". Not what I had in mind at all. Also, I have hardwood floors and he makes a lot of noise with it. I'm sure my neighbors below aren't enjoying his new toy either.

great toy
My little Westie loves this toy. I fill up the sections with one treat, or skip a few sections to make him work harder at spinning it. Well made, but I wouldn't keep it out where he could chew on it in boredom.

Nice Skirt
This is a great summer weight skirt. It drapes nicely. The waistband isn't too tight, as in some "free size" skirts. I bought one in black, and liked it so much that I bought a second black one, and even one in turquoise. The seller recommends hand wash, but I've had no problem with machine wash gentle, cold; though I could foresee the bells at the ends of the ties eventually pulling off. I don't know much about fabrics.... The seller says it's rayon-- my favorite fabric for it's feel and drape. The label says 100% viscose, I don't know if it's the same thing or not, but it drapes the same way and has a similar weight. It's a nice, casual skirt for the price.

Vermont-New York ferry crossing shifts south
09.09.10
The Lake Champlain Ferry Co. sealed up down the Charlotte direction at the end of the day Feb. 3, justified three days after initiating a ferry itinerary 25 miles to the south between Addison and Wreath Point, N.Y., stingy the site where the shabby Lake Champlain Link was demolished in January. It will be rebuilt over the next two years.
During the rebuild, segment funding will counterbalance the tab of the ferry at the southern narrows of Lake Champlain so those who relied on the connection to travel between Vermont and New York can extend to do so. Much of bridge See trade had shifted to the Charlotte ferry after the stretch was shut down in October.
The Charlotte ferry professional care will resume in the well-spring but no date has been set, said Heather Stewart, operations proprietor for Lake Champlain Transportation Company.
The company had hoped to keep the Charlotte direction going through the winter but seedy and the need for more sailboat capacity in Tiara Point got in the way. Traffic at Emperor Point has been race around 1,500 cars a day more than twice the 700 cars a day that were riding the Charlotte convey when it closed. The company needed a motor boat from Charlotte to assist with the Crown Pertinent load at top commuting times and to be ready as a back-up. Ice was forming on sections of the lake between Charlotte and His Point which could have made it unworkable for the company to bring a assign boat in a ado from Charlotte to Her Highness Point, Stewart said.
