How can I tell if my building is made of brick or brick veneer?

You guys were so helpful with the difference between brick and brick veneer, but now I don't know how to tell which my apartment building is made of. I want to know the info for my renters insurance.
Brick.
Its an apartment building !
It cannot be just brick slices as the other answers think by that definition of "brick veneer" (brick slices glued on the wall for decoration). That would cost more and be a weeker wall, there is no logic to a whole apartment building made with that. Actually, that's not even the correct relevant definition of "brick veneer".
Actually, "brick veneer" has another definition too, as some houses (less than three stories) are often made now with wood frame construction, and enveloped by a brick wall, THAT is "brick veneer" construction. If the building is more than 3 storeys high, it won't be built with wood frame construction and brick on the outside, it will probably be built with steel frame girders, and block and brick, solid masonry wall, not "brick veneer".

Brick Veneer is more uniform in design meaning it mostly looks the same with no imperfections. Brick is imperfect with a harder texture that can crumble and may show signs of crumbling. Veneer is thin while bricks are full size and sound different when you bang on it.

Tap on the brick. If it has a "thud" sound, then it is solid brick. If it has a more of a ring than thud, it is veneer.

Replacing window with larger window in brick veneer wall?

We are remodeling our home and I would like a bigger window in the kitchen (above the sink). How difficult is it to enlarge the opening, cut through the exterior brick veneer wall and then fill in the bricks around the new window? Thanks!
We are doing a complete remodel of this kitchen and will be replacing the circa 1958 cabinets.
How do I install angle iron lintels for a new opening in exsisting brick veneer?

I am installing two PTAC units in a dormer. They will be in the gable walls. How do I go about installing the lintels in the new openings. The openings will be approx 42" wide and 16" tall. The exsisting brick veneer is in good condition. Any help will be greatly appreciated.
You should rent a concrete cutting saw, cut the disiared hole. At the top 2 corners cut a horizontal slot on each side. Some demolition will have to done inside to get them in. Cut & slide into place. Its not an easy job, and each job will be different.

Has anyone ever used a brick veneer on their foundation?

What I'm calling a brick veneer is when they take a real brick a cut a thin outside layer off of it. You would apply it like tile (only vertically) and fill in the joints with morter.
No and this sounds like more work than laying brick.I have herd of a new system of interlocking synthetic brick with no mortar,just screws in vertical nailers.Good Luck!

Can I install stone veneer over brick veneer? I would like to know if I would need to completely remove the brick veneer before I can install the stone veneer. Any recommendation is helpful thanks.
To my knowledge depending on the type of stone ie; large round stone like field stone 3" or even 8" rd may not work well because of weight and tie backs to structure , or cut stone ranging in 1" to 3" thickness and typically 6 " to say 14 " long like brick itself ,you can do but remember your tie backs to structure support is very important ,you may have to punch hole in the veneer to use newer and stronger tie backs .Now if you are talking fake stone which is very lite in comparison to real stone the yes it can be relatively easier to do and again tie backs to structure my not be needed you may be able to tie back to the brick veneer only because of a weight issue you have with real stone.
