What is the best way to take faux brick off of your walls?
May 02, 2007 by HELP!!! | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
We just bought a home and it has the faux brick on one wall, was is the best way to strip it down to just the dry wall and get rid of the 'bricks'"??
Use a chisel, 2-3" wide or so, and use it to pop off the bricks and mortar. Then, you'll need to use a solution of muriatic acid to take off any mortar. Wear appropriate gloves.

A chistle? It comes off in one piece I think.

Be prepared for a BIG mess. you have to either start at the edge if possible and then you crack the bricl. you need to take off each brick indivuly and be prepared to possibil having to re drywall the area. The wall will be pulled off in alot of spots.

Tap it lightly all over with a hammer and it should crack and come off easy,

If they used liquid nails good luck on getting to the dry wall, I would use a large putty knife and a hammer, slide the knife behind the brick and tap with the hammer. If the dry wall is in sad shape it may need to be replaced. Good Luck

Boy, I hope a chistle works! Otherwise be prepared to remove the entire wall board as well. Other option is to put new drywall over the faux bricks.

any suggestions for repairing or covering damaged sheet rock caused by removing cemented faux brick?
Dec 01, 2007 by Abbezabba | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
i recently removed faux brick which had been cemented to an indoor wall by prying the brick off with a chisel. this left much of the sheet rock damaged including some holes (although not completely through the sheet rock). rather than replace the sheet rock i am looking for some ideas of creative wall treatments to cover the space with.
Call a professional. It is a small job and wont cost very much to fix.........or do what jazcoman or kevin suggest.they seem to know what they are talking about.

Is it hard to install faux brick to a wall in your house? Is "thin brick" cool?
May 08, 2006 by Koz | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
I want to make one wall in my house look like it is brick. The faux brick that comes in panels looks bad. Has anyone installed "thin brick"? is it hard? What tools would I need?
I just did a wall in my house with thin stone, it is about 1 inch thick, Looks GREAT. Was really pretty easy.
Supplies
Roofing felt
wire mesh
N or S type Morter mix( This is just regular morter mix)
Optional Acrylic bonding
Bricks or Stone
Tools
Morter trowell
Wheel barrow or large bucket
circular saw with diamond blade
First make sure the walls are good and secure as fall as sheetrock being secure. Then staple a layer of roof felt on wall horizontally starting at the bottom and just overlap an inch or so. Then get wire mesh from lumber yard (it should be around the concrete mix or drywall area) If you need to ask about it it's the same stuff they use for stucco. Screw it to the wall in the same way making sure to screw int0 the studs at least 1 inch deep and every 8-10 inches. Then mix N or S type morter mix as directed on sack
and if using the acrylic use 3 parts water to 1 part acrylic. Just try not to get to much liquid. Someone once said the dryer the morter the stronger the bond but it also can't be to dry. Then make sure the base of the wall is level, If your doing this in a room that is carpeted take up the carpet from that area and starting on floor put your morter on the wall making sure to press enough to reach though the wire work an area about 2 bricks high and 3 foot long and then butter your brick on back and bottom and sides and press into wall and hold for about 10-15 seconds work your way down and up the wall, On second row alternate where the joints are.

How to paint Faux Worn Brick & Worn Sheetrock?
Aug 01, 2007 by bjg76522 | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I am looking for info on painting a FAUX worn brick and sheetrock in several places in my new home. Any one with a resource that can teach me how to do this. Googled and found Painters that do FAUX but I would like to do it my self.
the brick is easy, paint on your mortar color(s) then tape over to make bricks. Sponge on your colors for the brick. remove tape.
Torn sheetrock, that's a bit more freehand. I don't know if this site goes into that.

My back splash is ugly horrible faux brick panels. should I paint them or do a venetian plaster faux finish?
Oct 01, 2008 by amanda b | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
Instructions and pics with suggestions will be appreciated. Remember this girl doesn't have Trump money.
Remember it is a backsplash so it does serve a purpose.
You can paint them. I would use an enamel paint so it can be washed.

Harlem newcomer Frizzante has warm, welcoming atmosphere but food fizzles
08.09.10
Soft music and worked up décor could not save Frizzante Bistro and Bar’s unimpressive provisions.
Frederick Douglass Boulevard has recently welcomed Frizzante Bistro and Bar to its growing digit of neighborhood eateries. Jazzy wobble music and dim lights accost the few diners remaining on a cold winter nightfall. The dining space looks gorgeous, decorated with dead tables, a faux brick enrage fail, and a stylish bar acreage complete with an astonishing impediment of wine bottles. Realm molding, hanging lights and loads of windows thrive Frizzante both welcoming and chic.
Prices are the highlight of the identification b docket menu—most dishes are below $10, always a bonus for the college pupil on a budget. However, don’t neglect doing to visit the ATM before heading over—only banknotes is accepted.
The waiters are concentrating and friendly, swooping prior at close intervals yet never rushing. After fetching orders, waiters benefit out bread. Few dishes soup as simple and ambrosial as a warm Italian idle away with butter, and Frizzante’s present did not disappoint.
Frizzante’s steaming lamination of spaghetti and meatballs smells and looks delectable. Served al dente, the spaghetti is bathed in a accommodating tomato backchat. Unfortunately, the brazenness tastes urbane, devoid of any zest. After the addition of brand-new parmesan and jet-black pepper, the layer gains a melody of flavor.
Still, the meatballs rectify for the spaghetti’s intrinsic downfall. Very recently like the gall, the meatballs drop like nothing—with no onion, no piquancy, and no texture other than unappetizingly soggy bread.
