Gas fired brick pizza oven?
Feb 15, 2008 by riata | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
Does anyone know where to find plans for a gas fired pizza oven? I would like to convert an old indoor barbeque that already has gas supply and a chimney.
Look at Home Depot , or Lowes , or any other Hard wear Store in your area. Or look up on the web under pizza ovens or gas powered pizza oven that is easy to do under Goggle.

how can i get plans to build an outdoor brick pizza oven?
Jul 02, 2007 by Gypsy | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
i actually did this 6 months ago. the first part is to surf the Internet for not only plans of ovens you are interested in. but, also print the pictures of them off. next, i went to a brick supplier to see their selection of bricks available and made sure to tell them it was for an outdoor oven. the bricks ran about $1.00 a piece for the actual heated part. i did the work myself and i shouldn't have. after buying the tools i need and will never use again and the fact i am not a bricklayer, it just doesn't look as good as i wanted it to. in all it cost me about $800, but i should have paid that to a professional.

Does the job for me
Living in the desert Southwest, I really don't like to use the oven in the summer months. I use the slow-cooker and the toaster oven. To bake a frozen pizza, we break it in half, so we can bake it in the toaster oven. This stone works great for the pizza. So far, that is all I have used it for.
Expected it to have more uses
I ordered this stone to use as a multi-use baking stone in my toaster oven. When I received it, I read that it is for pizza ONLY. You cannot put anything with fat content on it because that will cause smoke and taste issues. I guess I was thinking I could use it like any of my large baking stones. I did finally find a small baking stone that I can use for anything. The Pampered Chef small bar pan (stone) works very well, for pizzas and many other things. I have yet to use this Kitchen Supply pizza stone, so I cannot compare the performance of the two different stones when it comes to baking pizzas.

Broken pieces
When this product was delivered to my home, it was in a box with no packing. The stone was broken into a million pieces. Was able to receive a refund with no problem.
Stones are OK - not as good as others I've used
I don't know if I've been spoiled by another brand of stone I use or what - but these are not as good - items do burn easily on these stones - something that doesn't happen on my others. But my other brand did not have a size to fit my new toaster oven.
Excellant Quality Baking Stone for my Covection Oven
This is a very high quality baking stone! Plus, much to my surprise, it's Made in U.S.A.! Which is a great plus! The baking stone has multiple uses. Great for pizza, cookies, breads and rolls among others. Very easy to clean up. Absolutely nothing sticks to it, not even burnt on pizza cheese and sauce. The stone is very solid and thick, not cheap and flimsy like many others! It's a great addition for my Cuisinart TOB-195 convection oven, which I also purchased from Amazon.com. I'm so pleased with this baking stone I'm going to purchase the set of 2 round stones from Amazon.com. You can't beat the price for a high quality "Made in U.S.A." product like this! Plus you're helping someone to keep their job! Just a note on the shipping (since there are some negatives on this subject), Amazon packaged the stone very well in bubble wrap, the box it came in was very study. The box didn't even have a dent in it! The stone was delivered in "Perfect" codition! Amazon.com is always the best place to shop online. If you do have a problem, their customer service is positively the best of any retailer, online or brick and mortar!

Cooking with Fire
I have just purchased a wood fired oven and was wanting some new ideas on cooking in general. Together with the DVD this is an OUTSTANDING package. After watching the DVD, it made all the recipes in the book look so much easyer for the beginer like myself.

Excellent book & DVD
We have owned a Mugnaini commercial-sized wood-fired oven for one year, and are avid and experienced cooks. Our previous experience in learning to cook in the oven came in hands-on classes from the manufacturer, and pior to this date we have made pizza, bread, and roasts in the oven. However, we didn't have what I would call a deep knowledge of best practices in using the oven; nor many recipes.
Both the book and the DVD have excellent content, full of valuable tips for the beginner and advanced oven user. The book was enjoyable to read cover-to-cover, and had many appealing recipes. But we had a large number of "aha" moments while looking at the DVD; and then re-reading the cookbook crystalized everything for us.
We can't wait to try out a larger number of appetizers, breads, grills, and roasts using our new knowledge. This book is highly recommended.

Great Video
This book has an excellent DVD that is a very good tutorial for the novice. My husband and I both sat down to watch it a few times for some guidance. It has really helped saying that we had never cooked anything in a wood fire oven. We love having the oven and this has given us the confidence to jump right in and try some new things.

Very informative book & video filled with great recipes
It is difficult to find books on wood-fired oven management and cooking, let alone a book/video combo on this subject matter. After seeing the ratings and reading the comments from the previous two reviewers of this book I was not sure what to expect, but ordered the book anyway. Having read sections of the book and watched the entire video I was not disappointed and in fact inspired to write my own review to praise it!
The book is printed on nice glossy paper, includes many beautiful color photos and the recipes are simple to follow using commonly available ingredients. Each recipe cross-references a chapter in the video that actually shows you how to prepare and cook the food. If a picture is worth a thousand words then a video (3 hours!) is priceless. The author clearly illustrates food preparation and discusses oven management to maximize the types of foods and cooking techniques one can use during a single firing of the wood-fired oven. If you own a wood-fired oven, after reading this book and watching the video you will feel very confident that you understand how to best prepare your food and use your oven to create a variety of great meals. If you don't own a wood-fired oven, you will be inspired to buy and use one!

Pizza Oven is Great!
Purchased a new pizza oven - because we feel dining is a timed pleasure - taking your time to prepare a meal and eating it slowly makes it more enjoyable. Friends laughed at us, until we had them over, then it began to be the topic of conversation. Set it up on a bar and have cute bowls of toppings, purchase ready made pizza dough along with pizza sauce. This wasn't the only thing we were serving during the party, but friends preferred it, because they could make it themselves. Everyone loved the idea and wanted one to use for their next party. Leave a can of PAM out and make sure you instruct your friends to use it on the spatula, it helps with the removal of your piece of art! Cleanup is a breeze over the usual heated serving dishes. Have fun!

perfect idea for a lazy host
I love to have friends at home, but hate the idea of make a mess with the kitchen and making a huge dinner and appetizers, after cleanup, etc.. this is been a great tool, all my friends love it, got excite like little kids waiting for his own creations, everything here is auto-service, I just open bags of cheese or cans of olives, mushrooms here and there all ingredients are ready to put them in a bowl and your experience as a host cannot be easier, don't forget to check often if anyone is leaving left overs that fall from the spatulas inside the oven for a long period cause they start to get burn and smells.
and a advice TELL EVERYBODY TO OIL-SPRAY THE SPATULA BEFORE OR KEEP THEM OILED!!! there is always someone forgetting to do it and is a nightmare to take the pizza out.
Pizza Oven ROCKS!!!
The Pizza Dome oven doesn't only work great but it is loads of fun. We set up a toppings bar and have pizza parties. I know your thinking a pizza party. Well maybe not just pizza makes a party but what goes perfect with pizza, Yes Sir BEER.... Now that's a party.

Alot Of Reasons To Like...
These are perfect for baking in my RV oven for several reasons:
1. The small size makes them easier to store than a large stone.
- I kept the hefty box the stones were originally packaged in and place a paper towel btw each stone before placing it in the box. The box of stones fits in a drawer.
2. The small size makes placing the individual tiles in the oven easier.
- the smaller size makes them quite easy to place in the oven and easy to adjust to fit my needs. I sometimes place the stones on the flat surface on the bottom of the oven ( the flat shelf above the broiler) to produce a more even heat in my oven when baking a pie, cake, casserole, etc on the oven rack.
- when baking no knead bread I place the stones on the rack then place my Range Kleen Porcelain 8-1/2-Inch-by-13-Inch Broil & Bake Pan on the flat shelf on the bottom of the oven to produce the steam as is required to get the light crispy crust. The Pan Gripper Deep Dish Model makes sliding the broiler pan out and adding the hot water quickly then pushing the broiler pan back in place fast, easy and safe. When baking a small loaf as I often do, I only use 4 of the stones.
3. The small size makes them easy to clean.
- The small size enables them to be placed in the sink for a good soaking and they fit into my small dish drainer for a thorough drying.
Glad I chose this set of smaller versatile stones over a single large stone.

Baking stones create perfectly-baked foccaccia
Without these clay tiles, the underside of my foccaccie were burning. Now, with them, all sides of the foccaccia are perfectly baked. The tiles fit my oven rack, leaving at least one inch all around for heat circulation. Highly recommended.

Great Product!
These oven tiles are wonderful for making pizza, bread, stromboli, etc. They provide even, radiant heat in the oven and work great with a pizza peel. I had to purchase two sets to get enough surface area to cover a rack. One small downside is the 6" sq size does not fit a conventional oven rack. I tried cutting them myself but if you don't have a tile saw forget it. I ended up taking them to a local tile dealership and they cut them for me for a small fee.

baking aid
My only problem with the tiles is that they don't exactly fit my oven width. I have to stagger them slightly to make baguettes. That said, they DO give an excellent loaf and I like them. I wonder whether I can cut an inch or two off two tiles so that I can get better coverage?

We can't give them all the praise for the idea, though. Delia's is a spinoff of another Delia's, a random Mediterranean restaurant in Springfield that the Theodorous parents, Ted and Soula, opened in 1981. The younger Theodorou and Falatko pronounced to take the family recipes and correct them to fit the sleek, present-day dining area they planned in Alexandria.
"We didn't pine for to lose who we are and how it all started because you don't have a restaurant that lasts for 30 years if you're not doing something speedily," Falatko says of the archetypal Delia's. "All we unusually wanted to do was straighten out it up: make it hip, cut out it fun . . . virtuous kind of update it."
In the Alexandria place, a striking painting of a tree by artist Luiza Vizoli signals that this room is not your average unconcerned-dining stain. Pendant lamps be sick warm cheerful on the sand-colored tiles that top the walls. The dining reside is more polished than many restaurants with entrees priced in the teens, but not so fanciful that you'd feel uncomfortable stopping in after a talkie at the AMC Hoffman Center across the alley.
On the menu: The restaurateurs didn't deficiency to tweak Ted and Soula's recipes too much, barely to change their preparations and presentations lose. So chicken wings are grilled and glazed with a thoughtful honey-chipotle impertinence. A sprinkle of paprika and seize of lemon pungency add color and flavor to the restaurant's hummus. Acute-fried balls of cheese are nothing new, but the remoulade and drizzled balsamic greatly take a turn for the better both the presentation and the flavor of the goat-cheese and potato poppers.
