siliconized acrylic caulk uses?
Oct 28, 2008 by gstep50 | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
The linoleum floor separated from the tub and curled up alittle. Can I lay a flat board along the edge and heat it with a blow dryer, place some weight on it let it cool hoping the curl comes out and then apply siliconized acrylic caulk, that's the only caulk i have handy. There's about a 1/4" gap right now.
I'd buy sub floor glue that comes in a tube like caulk. Get the strongest stuff. Usually they will have a 100, 200, 300 and 400 series. They have it for wet surfaces and outside decks. Those usually work the best

then buy some paint and touch up the smoothed out subfloor glue to match the lino or vinyl

I usually find it's best to get a stick of Pritt, and apply it liberally to the lino floor, then sticking it down and hoping it'll stay. If it does, you can relax. If not, you're buggered.

What is the difference between latex-based caulks and siliconized caulks?
Jul 09, 2006 by LOOP | Posted in Engineering
you can also purchase siliconized latex caulking, Latex with silicone added to improve water and chemical resistance, silicone is the one that smells like vinegar, it uses moisture in the air to cure, latex is made with water and solvents and cures as it dries out to become rubbery. It is usually more brittle and it shrinks. silicone is more flexible and does not shrink, but it should not be painted over because the paint will not stick to it. Siliconized latex is an attemkpt to combine the best features of both into one. Silicone with mildew killer is usually used around tubs and sinks, where there is a lot of water, latex is normally used for fixing up bad trim and plugging small holes, small cracks and stuff so that you can paint over it. There are other compounds available, Monomere acrylics are normal on aluminum siding and metal, rubberized asphalt for roofing and many specialist compounds.
