How much paint should I buy just to paint ceilings to be sprayed. This is 3 bedrooms, 2 bath house.?
Mar 22, 2008 by Pat | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
Just to paint ceilings.
We painted a 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom house with a five gallon bucket of paint. You can buy Ceiling White in the special large buckets and one should be enough to do the house unless you have really large rooms...

A gallon of paint covers approx. 400 sq.ft. This can be more or less depending on the quality and the method of applying. Calculate the number of sq ft in each room, add together and thats what you need to cover. I would advise checking the coverage with someone in the store or buy an extra gallon. You can always return it if it isn't opened.

As seen on TV paint pad for ceilings?
Mar 30, 2008 by Mom 2 ZM | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I only saw the commercial once. Does anyone know what the triangle shaped paint pad is that is advertised on TV? Supposedly I believe you can also attach some paint device to it so you don't have to use a tray. Can be attached to a pole and paints ceilings in no time flat?
A PAINT SPRAYER IS ONLY WAY TO DO IT IN NO TIME FLAT AND THAT IS IN AN EMPTY ROOM.SUGGESTION GET A 5 GALLON BUCKET AND A PAINT SCREEN (hangs on side of bucket inside)TO PUT IN THE BUCKET AND A 1/2"ROLLER AND EXTENSION(they sell like a cheap wood handle 4 or 5 ft long) DIP THE ROLLER IN THE PAINT THEN ROLL IT OVER THE SCREEN 2 0R 3 TIMES EACH TIME YOU PUT IT IN THE PAINT(to get excess paint off roller)THEN ROLL CEILING REPEAT THAT IS THE FASTEST WAY TO DO IT.YOU CAN WASH THE TOOLS AND DO WALLS THE SAME WAY NEATER AND FASTER YOU STILL NEED TO COVER EVERYTHING ....YOU CAN GET THE SCEEN AND BUCKET AND EXTENSION AT HOME DEPOT OR LOWES ---AS SEEN ON TV USUALLY DOES'NT WORK WAS SEEN ON TV

I'm paiting with a tinted primer on the walls, should I paint ceilings first?
Nov 12, 2007 by E.B. | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I'm using a tinted primer (50% of the actual color) to paint our master bedroom, but the ceiling and trim will be white. Should I prime everything first, and then paint? Or should I prime AND paint the ceiling and trim, before I prime the walls?
Prime everything first, then start from the top (ceiling) and work down with the painting. The trim is painted last.

Why paint ceilings white?
Mar 22, 2008 by xomprehensabllble | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
I am in the process of painting our home's interior. The two rooms done so far (front hallway and bathroom) I just went ahead and painted the ceilings the same color as the walls, and it looks great. I plan on doing the other rooms the same why. Why don't people usually do that?
In our new homes we have been painting walls and ceilings the same color only if we were to install crown molding and that really sets it off, other than that we do white, off white or 3 to 4 shades lighter than the walls. There is no rule it is up to you and what you like.

What is the best way to paint ceilings? The paint on our new drywall ceilings looks very bad -- very streaky.
May 19, 2008 by grey eyes | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
A monkey can paint a wall....it takes skill to paint ceilings. In all my years of painting I have Never had to put more than two coats on new drywall. The lines are from pressing too hard on the roller set up. Use a good grade of roller cover (1/2 inch nap,white purdy) and a decent flat paint. Ceiling paint usually has a little blue in (makes it whiter) and a higher solids content. You cannot go wrong using Sherwin Williams ,Pro mar 400. Stay away from the cheap junk sold at Home Depot or the chain stores....and remember when asking advice at the chain stores....The person you are asking was probably selling shoes two weeks ago.;
