Is there a way to remove a decal design on ceramic tile backsplash in kitchen?

My kitchen has a glossy white ceramic backsplash. Random tiles have a fruit motif scattered around the backsplash-design appears to be some sort of decal that was applied on top of the tile. I would like to update the kitchen and get rid of these fruit motifs. I have tried Goof-Off, soap, Comet and they do not budge. Does anyone have any other ideas without damaging the tiles--I would like to just have the plain white tiles as I do not want to tear out the tile. Thanks for your suggestions!
if its a ceramic tile it probally is not a decal. most tiles are painted with a design and then fired in a kiln. but you can try goof off,acetone, paint thinner, finger nail polish remover.

Try Goo Gone in the spray bottle
You can also try warm vinegar water
that has been put in a spray bottle
Mix more vinegar than water together
Try to score the decal gently with
a exactor blade before use the Goo
Gone or especially the vinegar water

Scrape with old credit card and see if it will remove the actual decal. I sometimes use cards to scrape delicate surfaces to keep from scratching. Maybe try nail polish remover or alcohol for the adhesive? You could also try acetone from the hardware store. (Be sure to follow the label, this stuff has major fumes.) Be sure to test in a hidden spot first, just in case. Post your results, I'm curious. Good luck!

Check the link below -- it shows an example of the pinwheel deisgn. It seems to be 4 thin, long tiles, interlocking around a small square tile. Colors would be your choice.
"For the floor, they are going to do a pinwheel design using a black and white design tile as a rug, and then put white pinwheel designed tile around that (figure A). Black and white is very classic deco."
The "figure A" shows a picture of what it looks like.
Second link shows another version of "pinwheel" design with larger tiles. If you do a google images search on "pinwheel tile", there are MANY other instances shown to copy from!

I'm planning to redecorate my kitchen soon, and as part of the redecoration I want to put ceramic tile on the walls as a back splash. In thinking over the decor of the room, I thought it would be really neat to have a Mediterranean design on the tiles. Obviously, purchasing a room's worth of Mediterranean ceramic tiles could be pricey, and I'm considering whether or not I should do the painting myself. The only problem is that I don't know anything about painting ceramic tiles. I was hoping that someone could point me toward some really good websites or books that would be helpful in getting started.

Also, check out my friend Dave Bosley at Artworkontile.com as his prices are not that bad and he has great art fired on tile and can do your art also if you want him to.
There are ceramic shops in some cities that let you decorate green ware and they fire it, but I think by the time you paid them Dave would be a better deal.

look at a local distrubitor, they will be expensive, but pretty, or you can go to big chain, cheaper but less selection. you can always get a million options for tile, but buy it yourself, not through the person putting it in, they will mark it up too much!!! good luck!
