Best way to clean sand off of ceramic tile floor?
Nov 25, 2007 by mypearly | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I'm looking for a recommendation for the best type of appliance-- electric broom, sweeper, vacuum-- to pick up sand off a ceramic tile floor. A regular broom (I've tried several styles) leaves a lot behind in the grooves of the grout, so I think I need some kind of vacuum. My regular upright vacuum works pretty good, but it's too big and bulky. So hopefully you can recommend something more lightweight.
Thanks
Use a strictly hard surface vacuum. They are light and inexpensive and if you have quantity of hard surface flooring to clean they are priceless. I have a Eureeka easy clean 12 amp stick. It's great. Hard surface vacs do not have a beater bar.

I'm a janitor in sunny Florida (lots of sugar white sand), cleaning a huge lobby floor. Use a regular broom, and a lobby pan (dust pan in a stick). Afterwards I damp mop it to get the fine stuff up. The only way in a small kitchen to make it go quicker is to sweep all the sand into a corner, then pick it up. If the sand is being tracked in via the back door, invest in one of mats outside the kitchen door to keep the sand down to a minimum.

Try and damp cloth, either one of the sweeper things or by hand, you need something that makes the sand stick to it

Try a small shop vac.... Most people have one hanging out in their garage and never think to use it... Ours is 16 gallon and has a nice long hose with attachments.. It's also on wheels.. That should pick up any sand...

How to get the haze out of ceramic tile after mopping? PLEASE HELP!!!!?
Aug 17, 2007 by mel_guerra2 | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I have had my ceramic tile in my house for 4 months now. After every mopping when it dries leaves a film or haze on it, so when someone is walking on it it leaves footprints until all the space has been walked on. Is their a way to get rid of this or what should I mop with? PLEASE HELP!!!
are you using a cleaner specified for ceramic tile? Don't use regular floor cleaners or Pine-Sol type cleaners. They will smudge and streak. Also, use a clean mop head. I'm guessing that's probably the problem.
Go to a flooring store and ask. They sell products just for this purpose.

What is Wrong with my ceramic tile?
Jun 05, 2008 by Jessi | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I bought my house in January of this year and the tile is maybe 8 months old. I noticed about a month ago that there is a film (maybe wax) on them that is comming up with regular mopping and what doesn't come up leaves the floor looking wet for a long time. Do I need to reseal the tiles or just try and get the film off??
Sounds like the original sealer is coming off, who ever seal it may have used something cheat or your using acid to clean your floors.
I would try to get all of it off and reseal it

How do you properly clean a ceramic tile floor?
Jun 07, 2006 by bstbrtndr4u | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
I have tried everything I can think of and everything leaves a dull film. Glass cleaner is the only thing that doesn't but I don't know how clean it's getting with just that alone and diluted.
I use vinegar and water, 1 cup of vinegar to about a quart of water and sponge mop my ceramic tile. I can tell that the dirt is coming off on the mop and rinse it occasionally. I don't rinse because it doesn't leave a residue or film and it disintegrates grease, too. If I have a significant scuff mark or stain, I throw a little dry baking soda on the floor, use the scrubber strip on the mop and wipe away the excess grit. Leaves the floors clean and shiny.

“That leaves me stuck between a rock and hard place as while we wait more roof tiles are slipping off and more water is getting in. “There is no point redecorating until the building is sealed efficiently, I am just depressed.
