What is the best solution and tools for cleaning indoor ceramic no wax tile?
May 06, 2007 by ohio1973 | Posted in Cleaning & Laundry
Best solution and mop,etc for cleaning ceramic tile without leaving residue and best way to eliminate germs on floor. Thank you.
I do janitorial work and I use a cleaning towel to mop ceramic floors. There is two products I like. One is Oda Ban dilute with water or Simple Green same way dilute with water. These products are non toxic and are good with stubborn stains.
Also the cleaning towels I use are called Bar Mops the only place you can probably get them Sam's Club or Janitorial supply store. Or you can just get a mop for wet moping if you did not want to use a cleaning towel.

How To Cut Ceramic Tile On The Wall For A Receptacle Box?
Apr 30, 2008 by randyya_randyyaa | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
Would like to install a new recepticle in a bathroom that has ceramic tile on the walls. What tools do I use to cut the tile?
I recommend that you scribe the grout out of the tile and carefully remove the tile.. then cut it on a tile cutter that employs water.. then use a ceramic caulking to put back.
it can be cut on the wall too but without experience your likely to break it and or loosen other tiles around it..
but if you chose to leave it then you need a masonry carbide drill bit and make a hole large enough that a carbide jigsaw blade can utilize to start your cut..

Ceramic tile - using a Dremel tool for making a small hole?
Nov 19, 2007 by dbbanjo | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
I have a few small (4" square), decorative tiles which I would like to have a small hole drilled into (for hanging/mounting). Would a Dremel tool work for this purpose? If so, any tips/suggestions on the type of bit to use for this?
Thanks!
My dremmel came with a ceramic tile bit and a masonary bit in the kit. I've used them both to drill holes in ceramic tile that I have painted on and made hanging trivets with. A couple of hints. First make a strip of masking tape with a mark on it where you want the hole on the front and another piece of tape on the back where the drill will come through. I've had the drill slide and scratch the tile while trying to make the hole. Second, wear safety glasses because there will be flying ceramic dust which is nasty when it gets in your eyes. Third, be careful how much pressure you use, let the drill do the work. It is tedious and takes quite a while to get through the tile and go straight down. Somehow I've managed to get some of my holes that are at somewhat of an angle. Finally, make certain that your hole isn't too close to the edge of the tile. I've broken the tile by making the hole too close to the edge and I've had tiles crack because the weight of the tile hanging off of the hole was more than what could be supported.

How can I remove carpet tape from ceramic tile?
Mar 29, 2008 by Michael B | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
The bathroom in the house we recently moved into had carpet. The toilet overflowed and required me to pull up some of the carpet. I realized that there is 1" ceramic tile under it and would like to completely remove the carpet and clean up the tile. How do you get rid of the double sided carpet tape from off the ceramic? the tape is brown and hard and no longer holds the carpet. The ceramic is white, but has been made dingy from years of having the carpet over it. What kinds of chemicals/tools would work best , as I would like to keep the tile and make it look new again.
first for getting the tape off, try goo gone. it is a solvent that should loosen the tape. you may even have to scrape a little but the goo gone will help it not be such a difficult job. for the cleaning there are several things i would try. bleach solution, vinegar, ammonia. but try them separately and see which one works the best. use a brush for the grout and a scrubbie for the tile. it will be a big job but it will be worth it when you finish. good luck and have fun.

How do I remove ceramic floor tile from concrete floor?
Nov 25, 2006 by Rob | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I have a concrete foundation. On top of it are 12"x12" ceramic tiles. What is the best way to remove them? What tools do I use?
Wear safety glasses anytime you are working around chipping at ceramic tile. The stuff flies everywhere if it breaks.
A hammer and a wide chisel will do a pretty good job but you also can rent a tool that might make it a little easier from a tool rental place. Talk to the guys at the center, they can recommend what will make your job a heck of a lot easier.
