Decorating ceramic wall tiles?
Aug 25, 2008 by a-and-a | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I want to apply tiles to the walls of a hallway that has antique tiles on the floor. I can't find tiles with suitable patterns so I would like to create my own design and apply it to the individual tiles. Anyone have any ideas on how I can do this.
Paint whatever you want on the tiles and after they are dry seal them with about 3 coats of clear lacquer. When you apply them to the walls just be careful about getting thinset on them and wipe them off. Also I would use my fingers to get the grout between the joints.......less messy!

You can use a type of glue called mod podge-you can find it at walmart in the craft section or any craft store & costs around $6-$7. It comes in a white bottle with a screw on lid & has an orange & yellow label. You can get it in matte or gloss finish. Comes in a good size bottle that will go a long way. You will need a paint brush or the like to apply it because it doesn't come with one. Pick out what you want to put on the tile-apply mod podge to the front and back of it and stick it on. It is safe to use on any surface. I have seen people use it on mailboxes too. They say it's waterproof. When the mod podge dries you can't even tell it's there.

How do I paint on my ceramic tiles?
May 01, 2008 by Amber B | Posted in Painting
I just bought white ceramic garden tiles from orientaltrading.com for my kids to decorate. I want something simple to work with since they are young. What would be the best paint or markers to work with? The tiles are smooth but unfinished.
go to your local craft store i think they now have markers for tile, they draw then you bake, some may not even need baking. or if they can use brushes better and liq. paint then i know they have paint for tile and you bake that as well. you do have to read instructions though , i know you said for garden tile but still i should mention that most tile paint is not for food surfaces, just something to keep in mind.

why would anyone want to paint ceramic tile, i can see decorating some for a change but the whole wall?
Dec 14, 2006 by john t | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
i know there are products to paint tile, wuote decorate, but the whole wall, i am confused, they are clean, and easy to clean. even in the tub area when the grout gets dirty, u clean and reseal.
why change it unless u take it down and redo?
SO WHAT I SEE IS IT IS CHEAP OR IT COVERS UP UGLY COLOR TILE. BUT IS IT PRACTICAL TO DO WITHOUT FUTURE PROBLEMS?
They probably have something like the teal or hot pink or some color they really want to be rid of.
Plus replacing it all might be more than a budget allows just now.

I want to decorate a bathroom mirror with ceramic tile - is it possible?
Jun 28, 2006 by jmpohlma | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
I don't want to frame the mirror - I actually want to adhere ceramic tile to the mirrors outer edge.
so 4" tile is out of the question?
If you are working with a glass surface check the tile adhesive to make sure it will adhere to non-porous surfaces. I found this on ehow.com. You can glue the the tile directly to the mirror if you have a glue that is specifically for non-textured surfaces. Also I would recommend smaller tiles as larger tiles can cause a significant amount of weight and may damage your mirror.

how can i decorate a ceramic tile with a mini beast theme?

Ceramic paint and a very fine brush will get you wonderful results, also it is waterproof... another trick I use is glitter nail polish as a sealant over your final design, it is also waterproof, cheap, and comes in alot of awesome colors and textures now a days. Hope that helps!
