How difficult is it to install ceramic tile on stairs? Are there any tricks that can make it easier?

Not any different than a regular floor. You may want to see if your tile has a complimentary bull nose for the edge. It gives a professional looking finish. Good Luck!

Not too hard, just make sure you get yourself a tile cutter. I prefer a ROTOzip with the dry diamond tile cutting blade.

How do you level a bathroom floor before laying your subfloor for ceramic tile?
Jul 04, 2006 by abbylyn03 | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
its unlevel around toilet area to the wall behind it which is the stairs to upstairs
you can level your floor as you install the tile. use a level and find the highest point on the floor and set a tile there temporarily. start installing the tile at the lowest point on the floor and with a margin trowel, add more thiset to raise the tile so that it's level with the higher tile. continue the job in the same manner, keeping a level with you the whole time. you'll use probably more than twice the thinset you would normally use, but your floor will be level, which is crucial especially in the toilet area.

My basement stairs end in the kitchen. I am placing tile on the kitchen floor. I don't know where to end the tile on the top landing going downstairs.
there is a ceramic tile that is called a bournose ,not sure I spelled that correct.Failing that you got to put a thin wooden threshold at the edge.

How should I replace a ceramic floor tile that broke?
Dec 08, 2006 by rainfairy | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
A weight fell on a flooring tile, one of the ones right on the edge of the stair, it's probably about 10" by 10" and it looks like it should be replaced. I have a spare tile, but I don't know how I should replace it? Any expierence with this?
Sure, it's easy. Break out the old tile with whatever tool is handy. Sometimes I use a hammer & chisel but sometimes you can take it up w/a screwdriver. Scrape the area clean so the surface is flat. Buy a small plastic container of tile adhesive. Put a coat of the adhesive on the back of the tile about an 1/8 of a inch thick.
Put tile in place. The next day fill in the edges with grout to match the rest of the grout. Wait another day for it to completely set.
That's it!

Photo: Christie's. Just like windmills and stair-stepped rooflines, Delftware is a symbol—let's face it, a cliché—of the Netherlands. Yet the cobalt-hued ceramics have a rich legacy that defies their frequent appearance in twee souvenir shops.
