Do bathroom faucets need to match other hardware (door knobs...)? I am looking at "tuscan bronze". Thanks!

Dec 01, 2007 by Amy T | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

They don't need to match, but they should co ordinate, in my opinion.

I guess it would really just depend on how nitpicky you are. For me, no not really, but for a control freak, yeah I guess it would.

Not necessarily door knobs. But they should match other fixtures and lighting in the bath.

they dont have to match but it would look nice

In my house they would. But I would have bought everything ahead of time.

I have oil rubbed bronze light fixtures in the bathrooms....?

May 07, 2008 by princess | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

....should my bathroom faucets also be oil rubbed bronze? or are they okay as a brushed silver? Thanks!

~~There is a large trend in interior design right now to mix metals in a space. Your bathroom would be a great place to do that. With the oil rubbed bronze, I would use a brushed nickel for your hardware and your faucet. Brushed nickel has a slight golden undertone to it as compared to brushed stainless. I think that the brushed nickel would look great and give you a nice contrast.

Ever change the finish on a bathroom fixture?

Feb 21, 2008 by frogqueen96 | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

Is it possible to spraypaint (or use another method) to inexpensively, yet effectively, change the finish on a bathroom sink faucet? I'm remodeling and already have some really nice faucets in oil rubbed bronze, but the rest of the fixtures and hardware in the bathrooms is satin nickel. I'd like to keep the faucets but prefer the nickel. Any ideas or thoughts?

I actually change the finish to oil rubbed bronze all the time, as it is quite trendy

I normally do this with bath hardware, toilet paper roll holders, towel bars, light fixtures, hinges and even ceiling fans

but never a faucet but I suppose it could be done, but you would have to remove it first and by that time why bother

Look on Ebay, you can get some great deals there for faucets or faucets.com

I use espresso spray paint for a base coat and then very lightly mist it with flat black, You can then seal it with polyurethane.

I change old brass or chrome stuff and make them look like new expensive fixtures, for virtually nothing

What type of faucets should I get for my bathroom that won't change color, get dull, discolored.Pewter or Brass

May 30, 2008 by elizabeth | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

I don't want the rubbed bronze it's too dark

Moen advertises a finish for life
I know they have a great warrenty
You do need to clean them as per manufacturers instructions
Moen repair parts are readily available and thats a big selling point for me

Is it OK to mix metals in a bathroom?

Feb 08, 2009 by Sue | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

I'd like to use antique bronze faucets and lighting, but the bathtub drain and overflow valve will be silver or brushed silver, as will the toilet lever. Will that look funny?

Also, the shower door I like is available with the bronze frame, but I'm thinking that would make the shower stand out too much where I'd rather have it silver so it blends in more. Is it still OK to have a silver or brushed silver shower if the tub and sink faucets are bronze?

I would suggest you use one or the other finish..the two finishes do not go together and look like you just didn't complete your decorating.

Good inexpensive bronze faucet!
This was pre-installed in my house when we moved in, so I cannot comment on the installation, although it isn't all scratched up or anything, so I don't imagine they had that difficult of a time with it. I really like the color, it matches all the other bronze fixtures in my bathroom. This faucet works great, and the finish seems to hold up well-it hasn't gotten any scratches or anything yet. I like how easy it is to pull up the knob for the stopper, it works perfectly. I have noticed, as someone else on here had mentioned, that the handles seem to unscrew themselves sometimes-although it doesn't really hurt anything it is worth mentioning. The last time the handles were loose I tightened them down really well, and I haven't had a problem with it since. So overall, I am very pleased with this faucet, it looks really nice, and is easy to clean!
its ok
The piece that u connect the water hose to was too short, but other than that i love it
Great faucet
This is a very nice looking piece,it does not look cheap. Very happy with this faucet, Better than the one i bought at home Depot.
Waste of money and time
I bought a single-handle ORB finished faucet by Kingston Brass.
It has always been a little difficult to get it turn off. There's a sweet spot where it does not continue to drip, but you have to hit that spot.
After a couple of years the finish started peeling off.
If you're looking to get an oil-rubbed bronze finished faucet, DO NOT waste your money on a Kingston Brass faucet.

Good product for the price.
It's not top quality, but it works and looks great. The handles do unscrew easily, but it is just as easy to give them a little twist in the opposite direction. The faucet did not come with the necessary hoses for hook-up. We had to purchase those separately at a local hardware store for a few dollars. The product is appropriate for the price and that's exactly what I wanted.

Oil Rubbed Bronze?
This is NOT oil rubbed bronze!! It's BLACK - not even a hint of bronze, oiled or otherwise. Black as charcoal, and practically looks painted.

beautiful piece
I was looking for something not too modern but contemporary enough to go with my 'spa like' lavatory. This one is perfect and matches all of my other oil rubbed bronze accessories.
Excellent function, great style
This Delta faucet is heavy and solid.
The construction has very high tolerances, resulting in extremely smooth operation and superior temperature control and water flow.
The finish is a dark brown base color, with thousands of tiny copper colored scratches that give it that bronze effect.
Looks nice, but I've seen other brands do "oil rubbed bronze" better, otherwise it would be five stars.

Contemporary Update
I installed this faucet in stainless steel in my 1950's ranch bathroom. It is the first small step toward a remodel, and gives a fresh feel to the room. It was fairly simple to install, and I love the clean lines. This is a well made, beautifully functioning faucet. It will also serve those who wish to upgrade to something that allows for "aging in place" without looking like it came out of an institution. What a great design!
Poor Lifetime Warranty
Looks fine and works okay, but be very careful because their warranty is a joke. I would not buy from that company again. Finish came off the pop-up when I spilled some bleach in the sink. The Delta Faucet company says that is not covered by their Lifetime Warranty.
I Adore My New Faucet
It is as graceful as Winged Victory.

I didn't install it, so I can't tell you how that went, but it works beautifully, very smooth opening and closing of the faucets, water flow is straight. I got the Brushed Stainless, so water spots are not very noticeable. It is gorgeous!

leaks...
Bought this at HD. It installs very easily. The drain mechanism is lousey and doesn't seem to be designed for this faucet - no clearance for it to work right. After the install, the cold valve leaked. Not at the fittings, but like an old leaky faucet. I called PP and after about 15 minutes on hold, they were nice and are sending out a replacement valve. It looks nice and was easy to install, but with the above problems I'd recommend something else.

Great towel ring!
This towel ring is great for hanging towels in a convenient location and it looks great! It is very sturdy, and it seems as though the finish is going to hold up really well. I have had no issues with it whatsoever-highly recommended!
Looks good, could be a little more substantial but still perfectly functional
This is a nice-looking design with a very sturdy mounting mechanism. The ring is hollow and I do wish it were solid just to give it a more substantial feeling, but it still works fine and holds up well to normal use. The ring holder sticks out far enough from the wall to give you plenty of room to hang one (or two) fluffy towels without struggling to get them in there.
Good quality - sturdy mounting design
I purchased several Moen fixtures for a new bathroom: towel bars, hooks, towel ring, etc. all in the oil rubbed bronze finish to match other fixtures. These are the first Moen towel bars and related items I have purchased and installed. Previous experience with other name brands has left me skeptical about the mounting design and ease of instllation... but these Moen products were a very pleasant surprise!

As most bathroom hardware does these days, Moen incorporates small set screws in their design - but in a much better way than others I have installed. The set screw is easy to set and adjust, and holds once set! Unlike others, these fixtures are not loose or wobbly after installation. Additionally, the wall mount hardware is made very well - much better than others. Very sturdy and well designed - it is made so that you only have one correct way to mount it, and the portion of the wall mount that holds the visible fixture is very sturdy and remains square!

I prefer a partially open ring design, but Moen did not offer that in this finish. I purchased anyway, and am happy with the product, so I can't fault them for that as it's a matter of preference.
High-quality Towel Ring (Brushed Nickel) that matches Stainless Steel Appliances
I bought this ring to hang my kitchen towel right next to the sinks. It only took me a few minutes to install (after finding 2 properly sized screws, not included). I mounted on the side of my top kitchen cabinet next to the sink. The Brushed Nickel color perfectly matched my stainless steel GE Stovetop Oven, and my stainless steel Whirlpool dishwasher and refrigerator. The material is high quality and feels like it will last forever.
A title? I don't understand.
The towel ring is just what I ordered.

It was easy to order and arrived in a couple of days.

I'm happy.

2010 Kitchen & Bath Design Trends

HACKETTSTOWN, NJ (January 12, 2010) – The results are in from a modern survey of designers conducted by the Governmental Kitchen & Bath Group (NKBA) to push the boat out the key design trends for 2010. The results of the NKBA 2010 Kitchenette & Bath Motif Trends Evaluate confirmed the continuation of a covey of existing trends in the marketplace, but also uncovered others that exhibit shifts in the government that kitchen and bath manner will take this year. Below are 2010's seven Nautical galley trends and four bath trends.

KITCHENS

1. Time-honoured is the New Contemporary

Historic will continue as the most in kitchen construction style in 2010, with parallel following closely behind, while the Shaker design is seeing a surprisingly capable resurgence. Shades of whites and off-whites will be the most prevalent kitchen colors in 2010, while brown, beige, and bone hues will also be standard.

2. Cherry on Top

Cherry will balance the most popular wood for Nautical galley cabinetry, followed closely by maple, while alder increases in use. As for the finishes placed on those cabinets, channel natural, black natural, glazed, and wan painted will all be general. Other colors of painted cabinetry and brilliant natural finishes are in descend, however, as are distressed finishes.

3. Floored by Tile

Ceramic and porcelain tile, as well as fool stone tile, stay behind popular Nautical galley
