is it wrong to have a brushed nickel kitchen faucet while having oil rubbed bronze pendant lighting?

Trying to match the dacor of a new home. Should the bathroom and kitchen fixtures match the finishes of the door knobs and/or lighting or can you mix and match. We are looking into having brushed nickel fixtures and door knobs while having oil rubbed bronze pendant lighting and wall sconces.
Separate rooms in a home do not have to match and you can play with the fixtures within rooms. They just need to be within the same family of styles. For instance if you are choosing a contemporary look, you would not want to choose a victorian style regardless of the finish. We have stainless kitchen appliances, brushed nickel knobs, handles, and faucets, but deep bronzed drops over the island and chandelier over the breakfast area. Your bathrooms definitely don't have to match your kitchen choices so have some fun.

i would definately go with the oil rubbed bronze finish on my
faucets, etc; the nickel will look like a bad afterthought.

My plumber tells me not to use anything with chemicals to clean oil rubbed bronze faucets, shower heads etc. What can I use to rid of calcium build up?

I like the new oil-rubbed bronze faucets. Would it look ok to use them on a stainless steel kitchen sink?

The kitchen will have stainless steel appliances and mahogany cabinets with the oil-rubbed bronze hardware.
I put in an antique copper faucet , a stainless steel sink and stainless double ovens and cooktop. Some of the cabinets are cherry and some are glazed cream. Some of the cabinets have copper hardware, some have bronze. All of the different things really add interest to the room. It looks fantastic and the place where I bought the cabinets actually asked me to come to work as a designer because they liked it so much (so you're not just taking my word for it!)
The sink does not have to match the faucet at all because when you're standing back, you don't see into the sink--just the lovely faucet. If you're really into the matchy-matchy, you can get a bronzed drain and basket, but I thought that would stick out too much so I just went with stainless.
Be fearless--it will look great.

....should my kitchen cabinet hardware also be oil rubbed bronze? or can it be something else? Should my kitchen sink faucet be oil rubbed bronze? or can it be something else?

~~ There is a large trend in interior design right now to mix metals in a space. Your kitchen would be a great place to do that. With the oil rubbed bronze, I would use a brushed nickel for your hardware and your faucet. Brushed nickel has a slight golden undertone to it as compared to brushed stainless. I think that the brushed nickel would look great and give you some contrast with the darker cabinets and lights.
