Kitchen Faucets?

May 28, 2007 by Joshua J | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

Whats a good modern looking kitchen faucet that I can buy?
I'm also looking for some bathroom faucets to match with it.
I've been looking at moen, kohler, delta, grohe, jado discount kitchen faucets so far.

I have found the best luck with delta or kohler.

What is the best brand of kitchen faucets to buy from Lowes or Home Depot?

Jul 07, 2008 by suzyq | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

I am in need of advice from the plumbers out there. I want a good kitchen faucet that will not give me problems in the future. There are so many brands to choose from. Which is the best brand as far as reliability goes? Thanks so much! I will be shopping today based on your answers!

i prefer the delta 100wf!!!! its long lasting, dependable, and the replcement parts are available as an after market and work fine and are cheap!! i use them/ suggest them regularly

Are there supposed to be fingerprints and watermarks on KOHLER kitchen faucets brand new in the box?

Mar 23, 2008 by Dinosaur | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

I purchased one at Home Depot and when I opened the box I noticed a whole bunch of fingerprints and dried watermarks all over the faucet itself. Is this normal? I mean does KOHLER test out their products this way and ship in the box without cleaning them? That seems very weird. Or could it be that I was sold a used kitchen faucet?

Most definately you got a faucet that was returned and put right back on the shelf.I would be pissed if I went to the trouble of installing it and find out it's defective! Take it back and exchange it.

Is there such a thing as an adapter/cover plate for kitchen faucets?

May 07, 2007 by humility | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

I just installed a new Moen single handle kitchen faucet. It is virtually indentical to the original except the base is about 1/4" narrower. Consequently, the new assembly will not fully cover the hole in the sink top required for the original. Before I begin fabricating some sort of a "cover" plate/gasket is there such a thing commercially available?

Does your faucet have the capability of covering just one of the three holes? If it does, you could take the large cover plate off, and use the middle single hole for the faucet. This would leave 2 holes, that you could use for a soap dispenser, and a hot water dispenser, or a filtered water system spigot. Good luck!

beware
Bought a beautiful new Delta 927-SSSD-DST from Lowes. Since the fittings did not appear to agree with my valves, I had a plumber install it. A small leak was noticed after the plumber left. After 2 days, he came back out to look at it and observed that the faucet body itself is leaking internally. Called Delta. They said, remove the faucet and return it to Lowes. When asked what we should do without a kitchen faucet in the meantime, they said it was not their problem. When asked who would pay for the extra plumber time to remove and reinstall the faucet, they said it was the homeowner's problem and not covered under the alleged lifetime warranty. Told Delta they had lost a customer for life. They did not care. Faucet returned to Lowes and Moen purchased in its place.

Delta is not recommended, either for quality or customer service. If I could have rated this zero stars, I would have....
Great Faucet
Love the style and the functionality of this faucet. Had it installed in our new house and am very pleased.
Faucet That is easy to install and gorgeous!
I puchased this in November '09 to replace one that was original to the house. I was a little hesitant to spend this kind of money on a faucet especially since the one I had was functional and even though this is an excellent price, but took the plunge since my plumber (dear old dad) was going to be in town and planned to install my InSinkErator Sink Top Switch (which also work great btw).

My dad had real reservations about how easy it was going to be and wasn't real thrilled about having to mess around behind the sink. We even went out and bought a special tool that he thought he was going to need in order to reach up under the sink to tighten the faucet down. We didn't need it! The faucet was installed in very little time (under a 1/2 hour). It looks outstanding and I have received several compliments on it. Soap dispenser functions well and has a plastic 'staw.' The old one was metal and ended up reacting to the soap (rusting). Pull Down faucet is not overly long, but does extend a bit further than my double sink, which is great for filling the coffee maker.

I have been using this for three months and love it more every day. I would purchase again in a heart beat!
Great Faucet
Easy installation. Magnetic connection on the pull-out faucet works great -- much better than the plastic mechanical connections. One recommendation -- needs to provide a cover for the fourth hole on four hole sinks. I recommend this faucet for anyone looking for a new faucet for the kitchen. Quick delivery from Amazon.
Goodbye Moen
It took over 2.5 hours and a Sawzall to remove the 10-year-old Moen faucet and only 30 minutes to completely install the new Delta Faucet.

Any questions?

It was a gift and I've gotten nothing but postive feedback since the installation.

Somehow it leak at the connector
I had a professional to install this faucet. The installation seemed rather straight forward and nice. After we had everything connected, we found that it leaks at the "easy" connector part. We had no idea why and I hope the handyman is able to find a solution. Disappointed
Great Faucet
I've only had it installed for about a month, but it's perfect so far.

It was easy to install, works very well, and looks great.

IMO, the BEST looking faucet for the money (also the most reliable).
Kitchen faucet
This faucet looks wonderful. Can't wait to get it installed. Very solid construction and I'm sure we'll enjoy it for many years.
Beautiful Faucet
Not only does it look great, it works great! I had to replace my sink and the first item I bought was this faucet, K-10433-VS, and I liked it so much, that I bought all Kohler parts, sink - K-3372-1, disposal flange... and the total look is phenomenal! I bought a single hole sink, so I wouldn't have to use the plate that covers up the extra holes, and had the plumber cut a hole for the air gap, the look is very clean and makes the faucet a real standout. The quality of Kohler products is impressive. And to keep it all looking nice, I clean it once a week with Cerama Byte stainless steel polish & conditioner, which you can buy on Amazon.
This faucet splashes and has a bad flow rate
The other people on here are correct. I have no issues with water pressure and this faucet does not put out the pressure expected. Also, There is a big splashing issue that gets water everywhere. I would definitely think twice before purchasing this faucet.\

I did try replacing the head after speaking with Kohler but that did not resolve the issue. New faucet is on order.

Beauty and Function
I love the look of this faucet. It's high curved neck, thick body, and graceful handle were exactly the look I had in mind. The head can swivel from side to side at the joint you can see which looks like a little "collar" on the faucet. You switch from single spray function to shower spray (which is pretty strong) by turning the head of the nozzle.

I would have given the faucet five stars if only they had used a weighted mechanism to get the faucet head back into the base instead of the coil mechanism they employ. The hose pulls back, but you always have to stuff the faucet back that last couple millimeters to make it flush. Moreover, when you're stuffing it back, you always have to make sure that the pin is lined up in the back. It takes a couple seconds, but I could have lived without it.
beautiful, stylish quality product
this is a beautiful faucet.. adjustable flow between stream & spray with a simple twist, a pullout spout as well. with it's size and high arc, no pot is too tall... it is large, however, so if you have a smaller sink you might want to go with the bar size faucet. One weird thing, the hot and cold were reversed; when the plumber originally hooked it up according to the labels on the intake hoses, the hot ended up on the right, and cold on the left (handle direction). This is a German faucet... Are things different in Europe? No biggie, he just reversed the connections and now cold is to the right the way we're used to it.
High quality faucet
I haven't had this faucet installed for very long but I am very happy with it. It seems like a very good quality faucet. The pull-down sprayer is easy to switch from shower to stream, the hot/cold turn on handle works very smoothly and the tall height allows large or high items to be filled easily when sitting inside the sink. In someone else's review a suggestion was made about measuring to be sure the handle has enough clearance in the back so that it can be fully turned to the hot position. I highly recommend this also, especially if you are having a hole cut in a new counter top to accommodate this faucet.
Very nice
Beautiful faucet which was exactly what we were expecting from the descriptions. Pull-down works great, clean lines match the other stainless appliances in our kitchen. Price is right for a very high end looking faucet. Has a great, substantial feel to it altogether, and would highly recommend this product.
Love it!
Just switched from my second Lady Lux to this Danze faucet and am loving it. The only thing Lady lux had was great hose flexibilty. The Danze hose is fairly stiff however it's not something I use alot since the neck is so high, everything fits underneath it. It fits solidly on my Corian sink and looks spectacular. I love the feature that you can just turn the end and get varying degrees of spray to full power. Love it and it was half the price of the Lady Lux!

Very Nice But Room For Improvement
We have used this every day for several months and we are quite pleased with the faucet. There are, however, several issues that could benefit from some design improvements.

1. The retract spring should be stronger as it doesn't fully retract without manual intervention.

2. Remove the alignment notch from hose spray head that forces you to align the spray head with the mating notch-indentation in the hose guide assembly. This little piece of plastic forces you to rotate the spray head so that the spray button faces to the rear of the faucet. If you don't rotate the spray head then the head will not fully retract into the hose guide assembly. I simply removed the notch because it serves no practical function and I could care less which direction the spray button faces. It bothers me more when the head is not fully retracted.

3. I generally find that the O-ring that holds the spray head into the hose guide assembly, when retracted, works fairly well but the design would benefit from a magnetically held design. This would make retraction smoother and consistently position the spay head tightly into place.

Other than these few rather minor annoyances, we find that the quality is terrific and that the faucet's operation is both smooth and functional. The height is perfect for cleaning taller pots. We wouldn't hesitate to buy another one of these. We would rate it 4.5 stars if I could do so. We have talked to customer support about an issue with the soap dispenser and found them to be extremely responsive, courteous and helpful. I would give them 5 stars for customer support.

Beautiful but slightly flawed
This is a beautiful, tall, functional kitchen faucet. Installation took 15 minutes, for an amateur. The faucet swivels easily and the control valve is as smooth and elegant as they come. The flaw is in the plastic "snap seal" that holds the spray head on to the neck of the faucet. It takes two hands to snap the sprayer back in place; only to find that it falls off the neck and dangles if the user doesn't take special care to make sure that it is snapped in securely. A cheap little plastic clip is all that holds these two main parts together. I envision the problem worsening as the clip wears with use. I love the faucet otherwise, it's just too bad that the money that the manufacturer spent on the top grade stainless steel body and control valve has been compromised by a 10 cent plastic clip.
Sleek and superior
My husband about fainted when he saw what I paid for this faucet, but there are no regrets now that it is installed on our counter top and in our lives. Quality speaks for itself, and everything about this faucet has been a joy to use. We have had it for about six months now, and there have been no problems--just smooth operation which you soon take for granted. I didn't realize how spoiled I was until we bought a second home with a "builder grade" pull out faucet. That thing is chromed plastic and has a herky jerky reeling action, and is just hard to love after getting used to the Danze. Get the Danze.

Good basic faucet
Easy to install and works well. Buttons are easy to use, though I find the pressure of the sprayer better than that of the normal water flow. This makes cleaning a sink with two seperate sides much easier than a standard sprayer that is fixed to one side of the sink.
Kohler K-15160 fails after a few years.
Our Kohler K-15160 is about three years old. The faucet was fine for that time but a few weeks ago we began to have a problem. The water flow began to slow down to a trickle after a few moments of running the water. So I found the proper replacement cartridge and purchased a new one. After installing the new cartridge the problem actually became worse. I could not find any information on Kohler's website and the web is getting to be useless for consumer help as every website wants you to "Join" and give up your personal information to see the results of what others have posted. Most times the result is not the answer even close to what you're looking for.

I hope by posting this on Amazon, that someone with a similar problem would read this an post an answer.

Perhaps the replacement cartridge was defective, but I am reluctant to keep buying replacement parts if the product has a systemic common problem!

Thanks,

Mike
Not Up to Kohler Standards
We are very disappointed in this faucet. The water pressure is very low compared to the one we replaced. The rubber-covered buttons on the top do not work correctly and the faucet remains stuck in the spray mode except on rare occasion. The faucet does not extend out over the sink as far as our previous faucets, which means that we have to pull it out to fill up a pot that is sitting in the sink. We are returning the faucet and going back to our previous brand, but will have to pay the plumber another $84 to install the new one. It does look nice, though, so if looks are all you're after, go for it.
a task-reducing faucet!
If a piece of hardware can make you smile, this is it!
I had a goose neck faucet with a fairly deep kitchen sink, and although it looked nice, disaster followed every time i did dishes or washed my hands, to the point where i would go to the bathroom to wash my hands even though i was in the kitchen and piled up my dishes and did them as infrequently as possible to avoid having to soak up splashed water from the counter.

This faucet is beautifully made (i got the brushed chrome). The faucet head is only about 6-8" above counter top but still looks nice and elegant, can be moved from side to side very easily. The button that switches between regular flow and spray is easy to press; the pull out works smoothly. Also, you can control how strong the water flow - the handle is very sensitive, which i love since i hate having to have super strong flow at all time - there are many instances where a soft flow is more than suffice and you can save water. AND last but not least, my kitchen counter remained nice and dry afterward - the time it saved me from cleaning up the splashed water alone make this worth every pennies spent (not to mention some sanity regained from not having to go to a different room to wash hands)

A snap to install - (once you get the old faucet out)
We bought this to replace a Hans Grohe faucet that was installed in 1992. The Grohe was also a single handle white faucet and was an expensive faucet that served well for 17 years. About a month ago I noticed that the water pressure had dropped in that faucet while all others in the house were fine. I understand that this is usually caused by small particles of sediment and such clogging the cartridge. A replacement cartridge for this old faucet was somewhere north of $75.00 and we decided to replace it.

Since we needed a white faucet and liked the single handle with pull out faucet, our options were limited to about 18 in a reasonable price range. We went with the Kohler k-15160 after reading many positive reviews. It arrived in great shape and with good instructions. Getting the old Grohe out took me 6 hours of trying to loosen the retaining nut under the sink in cramped conditions and little access using a hammer and long screwdriver to s-l-o-w-l-y manage to turn it about 6 revolutions. After this frustration I found that I had loosened it enough to slip a hacksaw between the base of the faucet and the escutcheon. About 45 minutes later I had sawed through it and had it out! I decided on a few fingers of Jameson's on the rocks and a good night sleep before installing the Kohler. The next morning I dreaded positioning myself under the sink again but was amazed how easily the faucet installed. It was in and running without leaks in less than 45 minutes.

The faucet looks great and works smoothly and flawlessly. I especially like the longer handle that it has compared to the old Grohe, it is very easy to work and set to any temperature or flow. The pull out spout works very well also, the Grohe was made of metal and was awkward to position around the sink and return to the retracted position. The Kohler pulls out effortlessly and feels much lighter; it has a swivel between the hose and spout which makes reaching any corner of the sink a breeze. The spray is operated by the black buttons on top of the spout with the front of the switch turning the spray on and just behind that the button to turn it off.

I looks great and has a solid quality feel. It is all metal (I read in one review somewhere that the spout was plastic...not so). The only plastic is the black rubber-like strip covering the spray on-off buttons. We are very pleased with our choice. Just consider how old and accessible your old faucet is to remove before tackling the installation yourself.

Avoid leaky sink with preventive maintenance

A ample place to start: the kitchen fall, just about the busiest point in anyone's home. Clogged drains are the most garden plumbing imbroglio.

If you don't have a garbage disposal, be persnickety about keeping out grub scraps and grease. Those can emulsify in unresponsive water, structure up and eventually blocking pipes.

If you have a debris disposal, run head water before turning it on and let it run for about 30 seconds after you take to one's heels it off. If the disposal churns without O, particles will tarry and can clog the strain.

The folks at Benjamin Franklin Plumbing in Chandler intimate this added prudence: Dump a half-cup of baking soda into the cripple. Pour a quadrature-cup of vinegar into that. Inundate the drain and let it sit for 15 minutes as it foams. Euphoria the drain with chilling water. Do this periodically to keep your disbursement flowing unrestrictedly. Avoid using chemical watercourse cleaners, chiefly if your home's plumbing is old.

You should also hone garbage-disposal blades. Every month, locate a cupful of ice cubes tainted with white vinegar into the disposal. Set upon it on. As the disposal crunches away, the pulverizing of the ice sharpens its blades. Once the ice is gone, teem a capful of cooking oil into the tax to lube any unfinished spots.

Your faucet is directed to leak at some with respect to make an effort to, but you can reduce the chance or stop it the bat of an eye it starts.

Old or damaged washers call most leaky faucets. The washer, a thin, rubber ring also gaol the faucet pat, should be replaced every link of years.
