I installed two expensive, nice looking Moen faucets. All the others in my house are normal boring Deltas. The Deltas were very easy to install. They cause no problems. The Moens are a pain in you know where and they keep loosening.
Anyone have experience with Moen?
Yes - Moen has about the best customer service in the industry. If you are having trouble with one of their products just give them a call. If you want help solving the "loosening up" issue just ask.

Just about all of the upper end faucets have great warranty service. The issue is cost and style. Some have quirks that you have to figure out like Moen. I've had my best luck with Price Pfister, they are on the up side of cost but they stand behind their product like a rock. I've installed a few hundred and they seem to give me the least problems.

never had much problem installing any of the faucets
Delta seems to tend to be a little pricier with many little parts
Moen has less parts to change if something goes bad(the cartridge)
we recently switched to wolverine brass

you haven't seen delta"s full line, I prefer delta over moen

Delta is the best. You can spend hundreds on a faucet, and the Delta is still better.

Are kitchen faucets standard? I am trying to replace a Moen faucet with one made by Delta?

Moen has a lifetime, transferable warranty. Just send away for another. If they don't make that model anymore they should give you another. good luck

Do Moen and Delta make anti scalding shower faucets with ceramic valve that come as a package?
Feb 13, 2008 by Roy B | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
Do Moen and Delta make anti scalding shower faucets with ceramic valve that come as a package instead of trim and rough-in or valves that need to be purchased separately?
What's the best faucet out there?
Delta, Moen, Danze (Taiwan)
well I know Moen carries an anti scald line, but I'm not sure about the packaged part of it. I'd check their website for more info. My experience with Delta is that they're "throw away" faucets. I've dealt with breakage and failure from their products. My personal favorite is Kohler, but it can get spendy. American Standard has more affordable lines, if you're looking to save money. I have no experience and therefore no opinion about Danze, though I do know the name.
My suggestion is to check out the different manufactures websites. Most of them have plenty of information regarding what you're asking. I've used them plenty of times while doing specs for plumbers and clients (I'm an Interior Designer). Or you can call up your favorite plumbing supply and get them to do the legwork....lol. I've gotten stuck doing that plenty of times, even when it didn't lead to a sale.
Good luck.

Is there a lifetime warranty on 4 inch Moen faucets?
Jul 01, 2006 by granna | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
I was told by a plumber that I could return the ones I had to replace and receive a refund.
Without the original receipt/etc, Moen will likely send you a replacement product as opposed to a refund. But at least you could sell that on eBay.
Look them up and phone them. They sent me a new shower head once because their old one had a problem. I ended up using it on a different shower because, like you, I had already remedied the original problem.

what are Moen faucets made out of?
Dec 17, 2008 by celine | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
My cat has Zinc poisoning and we are trying to figure out where the source is, He did not eat a penny, the only thing different he does is leaking the bathtub faucet after we shower. This model was installed in the 80's or early 90's. thanks for any thoughts.
I hate to disagree, but the tub spout has zinc in its composition. type in zinc tub spout and click on the moen faucet and look at the material composition- with a little more research, you will find that all faucets made of brass, have zinc , as it helps for strength. Look up zinc on wikipedia

Great for IKEA sinks
We bought an ikea Farmers sink that already had a precut hole. The ikea faucet that i bought with it was terrible and had no reach at all. This one has the perfect reach to hit the middle of my sink/drain and not splash up on the backsplash like the ikea faucet did. Great buy!
Easy to install and works great
This is typical high Moen quality. This was a replacement for a 12 year old kitchen Delta Faucet. Getting out the old faucet in the cast iron sink took three times as long putting this one in. Installation was straight forward and, not counting the time time to remove the old one, took about 10-15 minutes to install. Very easy and straight forward. You only need a couple crescent wrenches and a screw driver. They do include a specialty tool for getting up behind the sink so you tighten the nut onto the faucet which made the job a breeze. I did use a socket with an extension with a ratchet wrench on the end of their tool and it made it even easier. All in all I was very impressed, my wife is happy (which is important. While you might pay a little more for a Moen its worth it. I highly recommend this faucet, the stainless finish is attractive.

Customer Reviews
Moen is a great product/co.
I installed the 1225 into a shower without incident, but it began dripping again in 10 mos. I called Moen who said they will send me a new cartridge. Also, they suggested using hot water and vinegar to clean out the inside of the faucet, as it will help the o-rings to seat. We shall see--it could be a new cartridge going into an old faucet that has caused the new drip....
What's Not to Like?
Item as advertised - only problem is I could get it free from Moen. Any of their faucet products manufactured after 1995 have a Lifetime Warranty. Call Moen customer service and get the parts free - be sure to have proof of purchase of the original. Being a packrat pays off - I keep receipts for everything I buy that has warrantie / guarantees.

Moen kitchen faucet replacement cartridge
Once we were able to deal with the frozen/stripped out screw and get to the old cartridge, it was very easy installing this replacement cartridge. Now...my faucet does NOT leak anymore! Yay! :-) Very satisfied
customer!
Genuine Moen
This is a GENUINE MOEN replacement for about 1/2 the price for one at a plumbing supply.
This plastic one is recommended over the (more expensive) brass one if you have hard water.
Doesn't last
I got this faucet about 6 years ago and have had to replace it twice because the handle broke. The company gladly gave me a new one at no charge after it broke the first time, but I had to pay a plumber to install it, so this time I'm going with another brand. Also, after a year or so the faucet extension never worked very well. Conclusion: it's way too expensive for what you are getting.
Drips after 2 years.
We have had this faucet for 4 years. We thought what we were buying was a high quality pullout faucet, and the lifetime warranty helped the sale. However, this faucet will start dripping on you in 2 years, and after getting replacement parts from Moen, it will drip again after another 2 years. Look up other reviews on the net before buying this one. For us, it really was not worth the hassle of calling Moen again. We're going with a Grohe.
When we moved to a new (old) house a year ago, the kitchen faucet wasn't working properly and we needed to replace it. You don't expect to buy a new faucet very often so we made sure to get one that we'd love. And this is, to me, the perfect kitchen faucet.
What's so great about it, you wonder? It has so many great features:
* The lever moves smoothly and gives great one-handed control of volume and temperature; would be good for people with arthritic hands.
* Some lever-type faucets are fussy about the off position, but this one is reliably drip-free.
* The spout is angled up so it's easy to put a kettle or pot under it.
* The entire spout pulls out on a long flexible hose so you can reach the corners of the sink, fill a bucket on the floor, or have a killer water fight.
* When you are finished with the hose, the spout slides back in very easily.
* A tap of the flexible spot on the tip turns it into a sprayer; this works whether the the spout is seated or pulled out.
* Once the spray is turned on, it continues hands-free until you turn the water off.
Those design features and the great chrome finish -- form and function, a great package. Moen's a good reliable brand so I expect to enjoy this faucet for many years to come.
I know it's just a kitchen faucet but think about how many times a day you use it and get one you really love. I did!
Don't buy Moen
I bought a life-time warranty Moen kitchen faucet about 10 years ago. Within a couple of years the calls to Moen service started. An unending stream of problems with that faucet, none related to each other except for being part of the same Moen faucet. The chrome peeled off the plastic shroud just below the handle. The spring in the soap dispenser collapsed to a small fraction of its former capability. The chrome nozzle on the soap dispenser discolored. The same nozzle eventually just fell out. The hand soap in the dispenser eventually came out brown because of the pump mechanism rusting inside. The plastic sprayer handle simply snapped off one day. The chromed plastic cap on the top of the handle where it connects to the rest of the faucet simply fell off because a tab on the underside apparently cracked. The faucet started squealing when moving the lever, so the cartridge had to be replaced. Naturally, all these problems wouldn't be complete without water leakage issues on occasion. So far no problem getting replacement parts though. We call Moen up, tell them what's wrong, they're not at all surprised, and they send new parts. We go without whatever functionality is missing for a week (eg. no water in the kitchen), the parts arrive, and I repair it yet again. It is repair-the-Moen-faucet week again in our household, but this time in dismantling the faucet, the head of the screw that holds the lever on just twisted right off like it was made of butter. So, tomorrow we call again for yet another replacement part because the screw shaft could not be removed. It's obvious by looking at it that Moen designed in a screw that was far too small for the application. Lucky thing it's covered by a life-time warranty, right? Do not be fooled, "life-time warranty" does not mean you're getting quality because you won't be getting quality at all. All it means is that their margins are so incredibly high that they can afford to keep sending out replacement parts to the persistent few who don't just toss out the faucet and buy a whole new one. My advice? Stay away from Moen products, whether they have life-time warranties or not. The aggravation isn't worth it. I have friends with Moen fixtures who tell me they have very similar problems. I wish I could point you to a better brand, but I haven't figured that out yet. I know what I won't be buying ever again - Moen.

moen 1200 single handle cartridges
Purchased the moen 1200 single handle cartridges for my older faucets. I have been using an after market brand until I found these at Amazon. In fact I had to replace the kitchen faucet cartridge today, Christmas day. The moen cartridge works like a charm, the hot side is hot and the oold side is cold just like it's supposed to work.
Amazon and the Amazon retailer were awesome in shipping the merchandise to me in such a speedy manner during this busy time of year, thank you.
Excellent
- It's promptly delivered after I placed an order on-line.
- Great product. Exactly what I needed to replace some old Moen cartridges of bathtub faucets.
- Good price.

For DIYers
I had to replace 2 valves that were 30 years old and although they didn't leak you almost needed a wrench to use them. I opted for the 1225. I know it's plastic but I saw several people say that it was easier to use (pull-push-turn) and didn't bind up. I suppose it's dealers choice.
I put the first one in and it leaked. So I installed the second one in the same tub faucet no problem. I purchased a third one from the local hardware and tried in the second bathroom. It also leaked. I reseated it and turned the water on and before I put the clip on I adjusted it. That worked like a champ. I had trouble getting both clips on and off. It would be nice to have a new clip in the package. I recommend turning on the water and making all your adjustments (hot-cold-flow rate) before you put the clip back in. I also hate to say this but I recommend getting the Moen puller. I don't know if I could have removed the valves without it. The instructions on it were poor. What you are bacically doing with it is screwing the threaded piece in the knob screw hole and then using a pair of channel locks to tighten the outer piece against the valve opening to brute force it out. Kind of like a bering puller.
In most cases I'd recommend replacing the faucet (the cost of the tool and valve comes close to the cost of a new foucet) but these were in the shower and soldered in behind a tiled wall. I plan on remodeling the bathroom in a couple of years but didn't want to fight with them for another 2 years. MOEN 1225 Replacement Faucet Single Control Cartridge

Worked great and I thought it would last a whole lot longer then the plastic one.

replacement part, works great
it's hard to review a replacement part for my bathtub, so I'll bottom line it, it installed easy, fit perfectly and
our dripping faucet is fixed. We ordered it on a Sunday night, and it was here by Tuesday afternoon, as you can imagine with a leaky tub, this was a big plus for us and it's nice to know you can order such a part online and get it in short order so you can make your repairs.
