Is there a difference between an 8 inch bathroom faucet and an 8 inch widespread faucet?

My countertop sink requires an 8 inch widespread faucet. Will one that says 8 inch work?
Same thing...but when you go to purchase one...either make sure you get one that is the trim and rough in valve packaged together OR that you buy both at the same time if they're pacakaged seperately; otherwise, you'll be making an extra trip to the retailer of your choice.

Will an 8" widespread faucet work fine on a 24" pedastal sink?
a typical ped sink only allows for a 4 " spread so that narrow your choices down. if it is custom a 8" spread will decrease the space for you to put anything on the top of the sink like soap or whatever.

i bought a pedestal sink, and in the instructions it says a 4" cc or 8" widespread faucet. what is the cc?

well if it says 4" cc OR 8" widespread, woulndt that just be an equivalant to the 4" cc. my guess says that would be correct, maybe the 8" is just the total length, because i dont know why i would read the OR part in the instructions
here's my take on this:
it's gotta be either one or the other. more likely it's a 4".
some 8" widespreads "MAY" be able to fit in a 4" configuration. for ease of installation, go with a 4" "centerset" as opposed to and 8" widespread.
if you measure the holes <you should see three> the two "OUTER HOLES" will determine the faucet. 4" apart or 8" apart.

widespread faucet leak?

why does it leak every year or two? which part do i need to replace? is it just the washer or valve seat or what what what? and our house sorta has hardwater... maybe thats why.. but which part should i replace first?
If you keep the washers in good shape and do not overtighten the valves you should have no problems. Once washers get a bit worn, people begin to close the valves tighter and that just wares the washers faster. All they need to be turned is till they stop the water. After that it's extra ware. If you don't replace the washers, soon enough the seats are screwed and then you have to repace them or the whole valve.

Faucet Replacement/ 6 in. Widespread?

I need to replace my bathroom faucet. It's a 6 inch widespread. I'm finding inconsistent answers if a 8 inch widespread faucet will work. Some say yes and some say no. I don't have a lot of money to shell out. I found a few on ebay but they don't clarify if it will work for my sink.
What am I looking for to find out if an 8 inch widespread will work?

What you need to verify is that the widespread faucet has seperate hot and cold valves. In a widespread set-up like that, they are designed to be able to be installed up to 8" apart, so they should work with you 6" installation.
If you are still unsure, find out the manufacturer's name and model number and look them up on the internet.
