I have original T&G flooring in my bathroom. What would be the best way to treat it it or cover it?
What about wood effect laminate?
The best flooring for a bathroom is tile, because it withstands the high amount of moisture found in the bathroom. The second best is sheet linoleum. But, I have found that this can mold and/or discolor if any moisture gets underneath it. And, never use peel & stick linoleum tiles. Water easily penetrates the gaps between the tiles and they will soon peel up.
Avoid a wood floor in a bathroom, because it is so susceptible to water damage. The same for laminate, because the gaps between the slats would allow moisture to get down to where it could cause damage (rotting, mold, etc.).

laminate is good. tng is not really recommended for bathroom flooring cos it is high at maintenance. and wood gives a nad smell when they are wet.dirt tends to insert in evry part.unlike in tiles, it is easier to clean them because of the grout.
i forgot to say, u can also use bathroom rags.

For the bathroom I would seriosuly considering tiles. Its unbelievable how quickly the floor can get scratched and damaged!

Laminate flooring doesn't tolerate the moisture in a bathroom. The substrate will absorb moisture or water and begin to fail.
They say you can install laminate but you have to seal all the joints and the edges to keep it water tight but that is very tricky and probably will fail in the end.
For a floor with a T&G subfloor, sheet vinyl is the more fool proof but ceramic tile properly installed with the correct underlayment is the best combination of looks and durability.

Can I use a high quality artificial turf (indoor/outdoor carpet) as a bathroom flooring?
Jul 05, 2008 by Luke L | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
In my mind, it would look really great. New synthetic grass / artificial turfs are MUCH better looking than they used to be and some even feel really great on your bare feet. Would they work well for a bathroom flooring? How are they installed.....and how are they maintained. Can you mop them? And am I crazy as my wife implies? And how do I get her to go for it? Thanks in advance for your answers.
I think water would tend to get trapped in the turf with out being easy to drain or clean. This would lead to bacteria build up and health problems. Stick to tile. There are non slip types available if you need it.

How to go about installing vinyl flooring in my bathroom?
Nov 13, 2006 by Wayne H | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
My downstairs bathroom floor is made up of interlocking pieces of wood and has become saturated with the uncontrolled firehoses of three boys in the house (me included :) )
We had our kitchen floor done by a pro this summer and I asked him to save a piece that is large enough to put down in the bathroom. I am going to take out the toilet and the sink, rip out all of the hardwood links and baseboard this morning. I see that the floor pieces are glued down and do I need know the steps to take putting down the new vinyl and any tips aor tricks that anyone would be kind enough to share...
make sure the flloor is clean then rough in the vinyl, cutting it a few inches larger than what it needs to be
remove the vinyl then put glue down on the half with the toilet and sink place the vinyl in place, making sure that there is still adequate vinyl to cover the entire floor
roll back the unglued side and put down glue
press the vinyl firmly into edges then trim to size'
replace the toilet and sink

Has anyone put down anything unusual for bathroom flooring?
Jun 27, 2007 by moneywise | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
We have a tiny 1/2 bath in the hallway off our kitchen. We have kind of a antique colonial look going on....our floors are wide pine planks in the surrounding areas. Has anybody used anything creative for a bathroom floor. It's so tiny that it doesn't really matter if it's expensive. Any great ideas?
If there are the wide pine planks in the bathroom, I'd say that was pretty unusual. Antique colonial look and bathrooms aren't terms that usually go together. We would stay with something dark, maybe slate tiles without grout between them, or maybe go with an early 20th century look with 1 inch hexagonal white and black tiles.

We need to do something about our kitchen and bathroom floor. what shall I use vinyl or something else?
Tile looks best - classy looking! And you can find laminate tile that looks like the real ceramic stuff at Home Depot for half the price! I have that in my bathroom and love it; have for 5 years now! Best of luck!

Bring a sample home and be sure what you love today will still hold your affections years later. 2. Wear and tear. Think about what kind of a beating the floor will have to take. Will it be in a wet area, such as an entrance, bathroom or kitchen?

First off I was at the gym to travail out and found out that the plumbers could lay the tile this morning. I was gladly flexible and obviously hurriedly drove home. Then it turned out that one box of tiles was 1/8" smaller than the other so he couldn't fantasize the floor match....
