How do you design a concrete industrial ground floor?
Jul 27, 2006 by guitaristking2003 | Posted in Engineering
Hi , I need to know how to design sub bases , thickness of slab and any other facet required for a design and specification for a industrial concrete floor slab ( ground )
Too many variables to give you a pat answer. Would need to know about usage/loading on slab, ground conditions, if there are other sub floors below this one, what is being built above and how it will be supported among other things.

How do I break a industrial floor buffer?
Nov 24, 2008 by whoknew?!?! | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
Crazy question I know, but my mother in law keeps using this buffer on our floors at home, which is causing a lot of dust and odor. This is making my kids and I sick. That not being reason enough for her to stop, I figured I would just break it. :) Any ideas?
unscrew where the wire goes into the buffer, find the connection and disconnect then put everything back together. make sure to tape the ends of the wires so no one gets hurt.
Best of luck

What is the BEST wax to use on hard industrial floors?
Oct 15, 2006 by JohnnyRotten | Posted in Corporations
There are many, but what is the best for ease of use, high shine and best wear. Also, how do you apply it? We have buffers and mops,
Depending on what type of floor it is. Is it 12"x12" tiles? Is it Linoleum? Commercial Sheet Vinyl? I am in the flooring business and know that you need different waxes for different floors. If they are 12"x12" floor tiles then use Mannington's High Gloss Floor Pollish. First you need an industrial strength floor stripper. The best one I have seen is made by Armstrong and it was called "New Beginning" Use this first to get all old wax/dirt/oils off the floor then use the Floor Pollish.

What hardness should industrial floor required to be safe if required to be dig by pneumatic hammer?
Jan 21, 2009 by M&I | Posted in Engineering
Once a concrete floor or concrete slab reaches its maturity for curing of 28 days, it had already attained its required strength with minimum of 3,000 Psi. By then it will be now safe to use pneumatic hammer to make a hole or to dig.

NAILS
The flooring nails are a great product, but way over priced. I purchased the same nails at a local center for half the price.

Firsttimer Finds Flooring Simple
This mechanical floor nailer is effective and simple to use. My carpenter friend set up the first 3 rows with his air nailer and I took it from there. It is simple to load and once you get your mallet technique down it is EASY. Caution, my first swing I hit myself in the shin! Thank goodness it's got a rubber head.
It is a must for putting down hardwood floors
These nails are perfect for laying hardwood floors. Although a lot of folks complained here about the packaging, we had no problems, everything arrived in the boxes and had no problem using these nails.

70-100 PSI operating on

Dependable pneumatic floor nailer with 100 cleat publication
Product Description
The Janitor-Cable FCN200 Two-Inch Flooring Cleat Nailer drives 1-1/2 to 2-inch cleat nails hastily and efficiently. Durable and built to last, this nailer features a 100-cleat, hindquarters-load, gravity-feed magazine with detour pusher, and it has a well-balanced, stable design for dependable results in both ancestral and engineered hardwoods.
The Porter-Cable FCN200 Two-Inch Flooring Cleat Nailer At a Scintillate:
Drives L-shaped cleats from 1.5 inches to 2 inches
Pneumatic driving battle of 70-100 PSI
Strong, lightweight aluminum cover
Ergonomic design
No assembly required
Wear-resistant, lightweight aluminum construction is heavy-responsibility without sacrificing comfort.
Balanced, Ergonomic, and Authoritative The FCN200 features a balanced, ergonomic make-up, and it stands upright for easy, stable use. It also has a low center of attraction that allows it to stand independently without falling over.
And because the FCN200 is made from persistent, lightweight die-cast aluminum, it's heavy-allegiance enough to complete tough jobs, yet comfortable enough for extended use.
The FCN200 uses a compressor to lay down air at approximately 70-100 PSI. It weighs just 13 pounds and arrives preassembled with an angled air hose nipple.
L-Shaped Cleat Extends Dumfound-Life Whereas traditional flooring nailers use staple fasteners that don't put aside for wood expansion and can shorten the life of a perplex, the FCN200 utilizes an L-shaped cleat as its fastener. This cleat allows the lower limit to contract and expand naturally, even as it holds the Nautical in place.
And because standard 3/4-inch-thick through-and-through hardwood flooring requires 2.0-inch cleats for reliable installation, the FCN200 accepts cleats measuring from 1.5 to 2.0 inches. This means you can administer flooring materials of various thicknesses, including thinner engineered woods.
Additionally, the hammer perceptiveness is short enough to allow the compressor to get close to the insane for installation of starting rows.
What's in the Box FCN200; mallet; oil; wrenches; and 1/4-inch air befitting with dust cover.

Excellent Pneumatic Floor Nailer
I have used this tool to install 1000 square feet of 2&1/4 red oak hardwood flooring and have found it to be an excellent tool. There is an issue as other posts have stated with the last nail. What I found usually would happen is that when then second to last nail is driven, when moving the nailer to the next spot on the floor for nailing, the last nail falls out of the nailer. This is usually not a problem and a good way to know that it is time to load more nails. There can be a problem if you slide the nailer along to move it to the next position in which case when you hit the nailer plunger, the nail may be driven awkwardly into the finished portion of the wood requiring you to rip out the piece of damaged wood. This happened to me twice during my install. I figured it was my fault for not monitoring the nail supply closely enough. I did experience one nail jamb with this same scenario and it was easily fixed with the supplied wrench. In my opinion, to have only 3 issues with over 7,000 nails driven, is an excellent score (99.96% success rate). I highly recommend this tool.
Great on Brazilian Cherry
Used this nailer to put down about 300 sq ft of 3/4 inch pre-finished Brazilian cherry (jutoba) which is about twice as hard as red oak. Due to this wood's hardness, the supplier recommended that we use a pnematic nailer with nails not staples. Since we plan to do more flooring in my house and my son's, I bought this nailer rather than rent. I figure I'll sell it on E-Bay when I'm finished with it. It worked great. We had no jams, split tongues, or damaged boards and the nails set perfectly with the setting right out of the box. The plastic base protected the floor finish very nicely. The last nail pop out syndrome that many others referenced is real although it presented us no real problem.
Porter-Cable quality
Decided to purchase a flooring nailer rather than continuing to rent. Price is steep and being a specialty tool, you can only use for one purpose. I have several other Porter-Cable pneumatics and they all work very well and consistently a reliable tool. The flooring nailer is no exception. The safety trigger was more of an adjustment than I expected but once used to it, it wasn't an issue. The nailer worked flawlessly nail after nail. Considered purchasing a lower priced nailer but after several hours of use, my decision to purchase this nailer was validated. The only draw back is it doesn't come with a storage case. A case would be a very nice addition, especially at this price. Overall another great pneumatic from Porter-Cable. I should have purchased years ago.

Porter-Cable FCN200 Floor Nailer
I put down 800 sqft of flooring without one jamb or having to use a nail set. This is the first time I've used a pneumatic floor nailer, I am very happy with this product and I would recommend this to anyone. This nailer seems to be heavy duty to boot.
Over Price Name Brand
I hope you are happy with your Porter-Cable nailer. I purchased a RAMSOND RMM4 HARDWOOD FLOOR FLOORING NAILER-STAPLER NAIL GUN PNEUMATIC, on Ebay for $150 with free shipping. Take a look, it is the same tool for a fraction of the cost. It come with these accessories: Mallet, Goggles, Extra Base Plate, Carrying Case, Tools, Oil, O-Ring Kit. The Ramsond tool works flawless. Not one miss driven nail or staple (it uses both). It drives to the last nail with no problem, and when it is empty it fires louder to let you know you are out. Do your howework before you purchase a Big Name Brand, the lesser known brands come from the same manufactor as the big boys. I have a great tool and 2/3 of my money still in my pocket.
