what's the cheapest way to create outdoor flooring ontop of grass please?

i have kids and need a large space to play and entertain guests as well. money is a huge factor so im looking for an inexpensive way to create a large space (about 20x20 or bigger) i will be putting this ontop of grass also or if need be, would have to put something down for flooring. please help
the cheepest thing that will look good (other than sheets of plywood put on the ground) is to build a deck, and at about $12 USD a square foot your looking at $4800 USD. A concrete slab would run $13 or $14 USD a square foot.

What is wrong with playing/entertaining on grass? You have floors indoors, they are not, (in-spite of what some make-over programs would have you believe), essential outside.
For really cheap, buy some plastic- or reed- matting and lay it straight over the grass; an old carpet would do for a year, perhaps two. If it has to be flat, shuttering-ply is relatively cheap, and should last a couple of years.

I was hoping my new grass would be grown by now and I need room for people to eat without getting dirty.
'helpme' is right, "kiss your grass goodbye", grab a used roll of carpet from a carpet store dumpster. You might even find a piece that is color coordinated. If not flip it upside down so the natural jute backing shows. RScott

Outdoor flooring for second floor porch?

I have a two-story colonial that was built in 1925. There is a second story "sleeper" porch that is not enclosed and has a small opening at the bottom center for water drainage. Currently, the flooring is some sort of material that's slate blue in color, can be pulled up from the corners, and overall is in rough shape. It seems to be a common flooring choice for the second floor porches in my area. I'd like to update the porch. What kind of flooring options do I have?
Concrete? That sounds extremely heavy for the sort of space I have.
How about natural tiles? They are weather worthy and should last a really long time. Shouldn't be too costly and you can do it yourself to save labor charges.

Flooring for an outdoor wooden swingset - fort?

Looking for an idea on what I could use for the "bottom level" of a wooden swingset. There is a ladder that leads to a deck, but the part underneath is just filled with mulch. I'm going to put 1/2 walls around all 4 sides and add a gate, so it's like a little fort for the kids.
What can I use as the flooring? I was thinking of a wood base, but I would lose 3" of height, and I'm afraid the bees might make a nest underneath.
Any other ideas? Outdoor tiles or rugs? Any webistes you could recommend? Thank you!
You already have the answer. Outdoor tile sounds like it would probably work. Just go to Lowe's or Home Depot and check out the selection. If you do not see anything you like, jump over to the lumber section and see what thy have in a treated lumber that would be cost efficient for the project.

This product is attractive and serves it's purpose. The teak oil only lasted about 2 weeks and already needs to be re-oiled. Rubber anti-slip knobs that you can order seperately really don't help with the problem of sliding or slipping tiles.
Very Sturdy
The teak tiles were shipped right away, even though my order was right in the middle of the holidays. The shipping box was well packaged. The assembly of the tiles were simple and their quality is very sturdy. Two of the tiles had a cracked backing but, I contacted the company and they sent out 2 replacement tiles immediately. I would most definately buy this product and from this company again. If you are looking for floor covering that is irregular shaped or larger than a normal mat, this product is perfect. I used them to cover (fill in) a slippery shower floor area. The individual tiles allowed the overall floor covering to mimic the curvature of the shower floor toward the drain without hampering its overall stability. And it looks great!
