Best wood flooring material, and easy to install?

Jun 23, 2007 by kikaida42 | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling

We are renovating my condo and I want to install wood flooring throughout the living area. What is the best wood flooring material and cheapest?

For a good balance between cost and quality, consider using Bamboo Flooring. Also a good choice for the environment.

Pergo, it goes down easy with little need for tools or know how. Good luck

There are a lot of good brands of wood flooring. Most of them have at least a 15 yr. warranty others 25 to 50 yrs. Pergo is a good wood flooring and it is mid range as far as price goes. Go to Lowe's and Home Depot. See what they have. There is a lot to consider when putting a wood floor down. Some just snap together. Needless to say, that is the easiest to install. Others are nailed down or need glue. All need a foam padding. We just bought some wood flooring from Sutherlands. It was cheap, snapped together and looks GREAT! Your best bet is to compare.

what flooring material should i use for my home?

Sep 04, 2007 by Nirav P | Posted in Other - Home & Garden

i am living in temperate climate of western india.suggest me what should be used to floor my house.should it be natural stone like marble or synthetic material like vitrified & porcelain tiles.please give advantages & disadvantges of both.iwould like to for budget floor.

It depends if you want the floor to be comfortable or if you want to raise the value of your house. Tile, Granite, marble and wood flooring raises the value of your house. They also can start to make your feet and legs hurt because there is no cushion. Carpet is cheap and easy. It is warm on your feet and easy to replace if necessary. But it doesn't really make your house worth more.

What's a good flooring material to use in a high-traffic machine shop office?

May 05, 2008 by sundrop_rulz | Posted in Small Business

Linoleum won't work because of metal chips. We can't use painted concrete because it's on a second floor. We are considering using some type of rubber flooring like is often used in gyms and retail establishments.

Any ideas?

VCT (vinyl composition tiles) are a great solution. They can be buffed / waxed over and over. Very inexpensive to purchase and have installed.

Something a bit more nice would be a luxury vinyl tile such as ones made by Amtico. Go to amtico.com to check them out.

But vct is definitely your best bet, lots of different colors.

What's the safest and best flooring material I can use for my toddler's garden play area?

Apr 13, 2007 by Sally F | Posted in Other - Home & Garden

I am setting up a special play area in our back garden, but am not sure what flooring to use. I plan to have a slide, swing and climbing frame so it needs to be safe to fall on. Can anyone help?

i would personally use soft sponged tar and also you can now buy soft coloured squared paterned sponge play mats that you can fix together,i have added them on top of the soft tar flooring for extra safety, plus the kids love it as the can learn the patterns and colours on the play mats!

What flooring material would peel and stick vinyl tiles adhere to?

Sep 23, 2008 by nomine81395 | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

My husband wants to know. When he took up the hard vinyl tiles (the kind that are glued down), pieces of the ply wood underneath it came up as well. He was thinking of putting 1/4 inch ply wood over the damaged floor, he knows he shouldn't use luan. Is there a specific type that would work better?

1/4" BC plywood makes a good underlayment. Make sure any plywood used is underlayment grade. If a new plywood underlayment is used, remember that the floor level will be raised.
Doorframes will have to be cut at the bottom to accommodate the new thickness, and thresholds will require replacing. If the new floor is in a kitchen, some cabinets may have to be raised to accommodate the raised level of a refrigerator.

The 2011 Report on Laminate Flooring Materials and Services: World Market Segmentation by City

ICON Group International, Inc.

List Price: $795.00
Price: $795.00

Product Description

This account was created for global strategic planners who cannot be gratified with traditional methods of segmenting world markets. With the advent of a "borderless cosmos", cities become a more important criteria in prioritizing markets, as opposed to regions, continents, or countries. This write-up covers the top 2000 cities in over 200 countries. It does so by reporting the estimated merchandise size (in terms of latent demand) for each grave city of the world. It then ranks these cities and reports them in terms of their area as a percent of the country where they are located, their geographic sector (e.g. Africa, Asia, Europe, Middle East, North America, Latin America), and the entire world market.

In performing various commercial analyses for its clients, I have been occasionally asked to enquire the market potential for various products and services across cities. The good of the studies is to understand the density of demand within a nation and the extent to which a city might be used as a point of codification within its region. From an economic perspective, however, a city does not reflect a population within rigid geographical boundaries. To an economist or tactical planner, a city represents an area of predominant influence over markets in adjacent areas. This impact varies from one industry to another, but also from one period of time to another.

In what follows, I summarize the money-making potential for the world's major cities for "laminate flooring materials and services" for the year 2011. The object of this report is to report my findings on the real commercial potential, or what an economist calls the latent consumer, represented by a city when defined as an area of supreme influence. The reader needs to realize that latent need may or may not represent real sales.
