I purchased a townhouse and I want to replace the lighting fixture with a chandelier. Please help. Thx
Remove the present fixture there should be an electrical box under the fixture. Turn the power off to the outlet and disconnect the old light and then attach the wires on the new one. You may need an adapter that spans the box from side to side and a drop down stud (hollow all thread) This may come with your new fixture. secure all hardware and attach the new light. By the way the new fixture will most likely come with detailed installation instructions.

most fixtures are interchangeable. the round box in the ceiling can be used for many different fixtures. there is a silver rod that that screws into that box and your light fixture screws into that silver rod. you want to be sure that with a chandelier it is secure enough to the stud in the roof to support the weight of the chandelier, that is my only concern. the wiring should be the same. black to black, white to white, etc.

I broke it by mistake...not my fault I'm tall. And I need to find a new one before my mom freaks. It needs to be glass. No shades at all. Somewhere local, like home depot or something. Anywhere I can look up and go to the nearest store without ordering online. A picture of it and where to find it would be great. I would soo love you!!! I need it as soon as possible. PLEASE HELP ME!!!! Work with me. My dining room is red.
I would try Lowe's. Hopefully you have one nearby. They seem to offer a very wide variety of lighting products, and I know I have seen chandeliers there before.

How do I install an older Chandelier to a new Overhead lighting outlet, help?

Unfortunately, the chandelier install instruction has been dumped. The chandelier has two wires, neither of which are color coded (black/ white) and the ground copper wire. However the outlet contains four wires, black, white, red, and green. Should the red wire be attached to BLACK or white wire, since all should be "hot"? Also, when attaching to the fixture wiring since there is not color, is this just a hit or miss as to which goes to black or white? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
On light fixtures such as this one they are not color coded because it does not matter which one you hook to hot or neutral. One of your light fixture wires needs to be connected to your white from the ceiling. Connect the copper wire to your green wire. The other wire from the fixture needs to go to either the red or the black from the ceiling. This depends on which one was used for the old light fixture, if you remember use it. If not try one and turn power on and verify that it is controlled by the switch. Good luck...
