have you had problems with Cooper LIghting 100 Watt Metal Halide Fixtures?

We've experienced burnout of 29 of the 79 fixtures installed
Ours are indtalled on the outside of residential apartments and have been tested as far as proper voltage - we believe this is a manufacturing issue - that the size of the unit does not allow the heat generated by the 100 Watt bulb to dissapate. Looking for others who have had problems with this companies fixtures.
Cooper lighting is normally a good product, I'm just wondering what you have 7,900 watts of light on, Most of the time that much light is used in parking lots, horse arenas things of that nature, are they 120v, 240v, 277v, 480v someone may have wired them to the wrong voltage, those types of lights are factory made for 3 or 4 voltage setting if wired incorrectly they are short lived lights.

Can i put put recessed lighting with an ic housing in direct contact with wood?

I am installing Cooper recessed lighting in my basement. I would like the lights to be as high into the floor joists as possible. Is it safe to install the lights so that the housing is in direct contact with the wooden floor boards if the housing is IC rated?
Yes, they can, as long as they are the IC type. I'm guessing there is some reason you don't want them installed flush with the bottom of the joists, like they are normally installed, but you will be OK. Hope this helps.

2005 Mini Cooper brake light indicator how to reset?

I had my brakes redone by the Tire Kingdom service by my office, but they do not know how to reset the light to go off.
Can anybody tell me if this can be done from the car alone (like the oil service counter) of do I have to go to the Mini service an pay $$$$$$ just for that.
The car has 62k miles.
Make sure the fluid is topped off in the master cylinder and double check that the parking brake lever is fully disengaged.

If there are two wires on the light attach the black to the black and the copper to the white.
Usual supply has a black (hot), white (neutral), bare copper (ground). You just need to do the hot and the neutral. Ignore anything else for that lamp.

motion activated night light
Exactly what I was looking for. I have the light plugged into an outlet in my kithen and it provides plenty of light when activated if someone walks in there overnight.

Highly recommended
I bought this light over a year ago and I like it so much that I just bought two more. It works pefectly and it still has the original light bulb. This light is perfect for those rooms where you need a good light for a brief moment but where a night light would bother you because it is on all night (like in a bathroom connected to a bedroom).

AWESOME !!!
I have found this to be very bright, very compact and love using it so far. Having magnets was a great idea. I stuck it to the ceiling of a metal fireplace while cleaning and then drilling holes to run an LP gas line.. Then used it in an attic of an old business that was huge and had many different areas.. It clearly and brightly showed my way to a leak in the roof i was looking for ! Cant wait to use it doing automotive projects as it will get into places my big fluorescent work lites wont !
great for electrician replacing service panel
Used two of these lights during a recent replacement of a service panel located in an interior room with no windows or other natural light. They provided excellent light for over 3 hours - long enough to get the new panel in, replace the meter, and hook up temp lighting to complete the job. I highly recommend these lights.
perfect lighting
This Folding Worklight does a great job when you have to lighten up dark corners to fix something there or put in a screw. I wouldn't want to be without this light whenever I have to do a repair job.

Right Tool For The Job
In my world, lighting could mean the difference between life & death. I've got flashlights that literally "light up the night". The guys in my squad are always comparing lumens & candlepower, and the flashlight on your belt could be the second most important tool next to your firearm. I know for a fact that my flashlight is the most used tool on my gunbelt.
However, the best flashlights in the world are still hard to work with when you need both hands. Automotive technicians I know all have Streamlight Stingers. While they are great lights for diagnostics, you still have to hold and point it. The Mighty D LED has magnets and you can adjust it into different positions so that you have got both hands to do the actual work with. I've got brighter. Sometimes, there's such a thing as too bright. In an automotive situation, or when you're in crawl spaces, you don't want excessive glare.
My favorite application for this light? I carry it in my pick-up truck. It is used to light up the truck bed for loading and unloading. I then stick it to the tailgate for backing up to trailers. I've even stuck it to the door and used it as an alley light. The only thing it's not powerful enough for is to mount up front for use as a fog light or off road light. This light has saved me all sorts of time & money from not having to install and wire back-up lights, work lights, and alley lights.
This is not going to be the replacement solution to all your other lights. I for one will not be looking for a holster solution to carry this on my gunbelt. But within specific applications, it's the right tool for the job

Motion Floodlight
These are very limited for providing the motion detector to activate. Made cheaply---spend more money and have a motion detector installed in the area you need the security to provide consistent coverage for that area of your house. I finally took one off my house when it failed to work 99% of the time.

Followed the directions. Arrows are too small to be discernable. After many times trying to get the light to work as specified, it still stays on all the time.

Very solid product and it works very well. I bought it to try and scare away some racoons (although not sure if it is working very well - or just let's them see the food they are eating better).
Beware this is not the real security/flood light solution
As others state it is easy to install. the catch is the cord which helps avoid running a new hardwired electrical line. My issue is it suggest not placing the light over 9-feet high. I did not note that on the package before I bought it. I initially placed mine about 12-feet and the motion detectors did not pick up squat. I lowered mine to about 8-feet, still no motion detection. It only picks me up when i'm 2 feet away on the ladder installing it. I'm going to play with it one more time, if i can't figure out the motion sensitivity it's going back! As someone else posted the instruction are worthless.
Great idea, needs some design revisions
Very easy to install, could use a gap in case you would like to sink the cord. The controls for timing and lighting are terrible--it seems like one end MAY (MAY!) have a small arrow--but one can not be sure so it is a crap shoot when you try to set the timings. The "directions" are useless. Once you get done the guessing games it is a great product, just expect to spend a few more hours setting and testing out different settings than you expect to. We set up three units with three different settings to get the same result, by the way. Now I love them though i did photograph each setting for future reference :)

Easy to do
I got these fixtures from Amazon because they had the best price, better than the home improvement stores in my area. installed easily in my outdoor soffits came complete with bulbs and baffles really a joy to work with when things do what they claim and all the instructions are easy to follow.
Best deal I have found
I am a industrial enginer and ave to say that this light at this price is the best eal you will find . I have used cooper lighting on many bids and specs for layout ,and for the price and quality you will not find a better light. I opened the bezzel to the max to except r30 series cfl flood light , but with the low heat and the fact you can purchase the r30 in a contractor pack for half the price. I also found that with the watt change you can run 3 of these compaired to a 60watt light and still save money.

I am a handyman in my neighborhood and I have bought nine of these lights for neighbor's bathroom light remodel jobs.
These are great quality lights. I have priced lights at big hardware companies in my area and you can't beat the price on these. The trim pieces alone can run $8-$12. Great product.
