what kind of compressor is compatible with a bostitch floor stapler?
Apr 22, 2008 by eng37ine | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Look at the CFM and choose a compressor with a tank that fits it. You might also look at the "duty cycle" (how many minutes of each hour a compressor is rated to run).
Other than that, you'll have to decide if you are running more than one gun and keeping a good stride, or have never done this before and will take a while to set each board, then more time to nail it down.
Max Schnell | Apr 22, 2008
Just about any compressor would work for it. It just depends on your application and how often. Basically this, If you only plan to use it a couple times a year, I would buy a pancake. But if you use it alot , or have a really big job, I would look at a 10-20 gallon compressor. The main advantage of a larger tank is simply supply and demand. A gun of that nature needs a little more air versus a brad nailer. So the more air it needs, the more the compressor will run. So if it has a bigger storage tank, your need to run will be significantly less, saving electricity, noise and wear and tear of your unit. So with that in mind ......There are multitudes of price ranges, really pending on the compressor unit itself. An ok compressor of this size range could go for 200 bucks, but one this size with a good quality compressor could go as high as 1000 bucks. So again, its back to what you need. But if your a weekend warrior, I would go to lowes/home depot and plunk out 200.00 for the Ok unit with the big tank. Hope that helps.

How do you load a Bostitch PHD-60 heavy duty stapler?
Apr 06, 2009 by A. M. H | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
We don't have the directions/manual and it looks rear-loading but HOW do you load it?
My stapler drove me crazy trying to figure it out, and I had instructions. So maybe yours is like mine. On mine, you slide the "arm" to the rear. You don't put the staples on top of the arm. Instead, you put the staples where the arm was. Then, you slide the arm back. In plain English: WHERE THE ARM WAS. Drop them in the slot there.

how do i refill a stanley bostitch heavy duty stapler?! PLEASE HELP?
Feb 24, 2009 by raver baby em | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
model B310HDS...please help...for work purposes! Thanks!! =)
There will be a clip at the back of the stapler, undoing that will allow you to slide out the long rod with a spring and staple pusher. Slide a clip of new staples into the stapler then replace the rod and spring assembly.

Stapler or nailer for 3/4" Hardwood flooring?
Jan 26, 2008 by Jer ! | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
Anyone know whether it is better to buy a stapler or cleat nailer to install 3/4" hardwood floors?
Also who makes the better one, Bostitch or Paslode? Anyone tried the cheap Rona one?
Thanks
My buddys dad owns a hardwood flooring company that mills floors out of old lumber. His men use paslode nailers. I know this guy has plenty money and buys good quality stuff. I helped them put in some floors before.
With wood floors expanding in the heat and contracting in the cold I would choose a nail over a staple.
GOOD LUCK!

Have to open it after every staple
I use the bostitch brand staples that came with this stapler.
For the first several strips staples, everything was fine. This is great for making booklets.
However, after that, the "anti-jam" mechanism prevents feeding the next staple.
I have to open the loading head and re-close it after every staple.
Once every 10 staples, it will simply be stuck, but usually, it just feeds down without actually pushing a staple into the paper.
This is the same problem I had with Bostitch brand staplers 30 years ago.
It's very frustrating that this would happen after less than an entire box of staples.
Perfect!
Bought this to help my kid's 1st grade teacher staple take home readers and thought we could also use it for craft projects. It works fine with regular staples.
Very good product
I was hesitant to buy something like this over the Internet but I was pleasantly surprised. Device is sturdy. I love the guide which actually stays in place between booklets. I would definately recommend this saddlestitch stapler to others.

Perfect for our calendar fund raiser
So far, we've assembled about a gross of calendars for the fundraiser, so it's not really a massive amount of stapling, but no jams to report. Sturdy and does the job.
Finding the correct stables was a problem
The stabler worked. I tried to find heavy duty stables to use in the booklet I was making. Office Max / Depot personnel are idiots. I finely had to settle on normal stables. Would recomend this type over the stabler that looks like a saddle, which had every other stable not work.

Very useful stapler
I bought this stapler after a disappointment with a "refurbished" older model that would drive both staples and brads. Compared to the older one, the SX1838K was easier to use in terms of putting the staples exactly where I wanted them and particularly for providing good countersinking of the fasteners. It also does not require oiling, which avoids the possibility of staining the work. I use the stapler in my home shop for cabinet making and a variety of day to day fastening needs. I found the 7/32" staple and this stapler to be something I count on and use often, usually along with glue, to get a strong, tight joint very quickly, without having the confusion of clamping up the pieces and driving a screw.

Works nicely but really loud
I bought this stapler for my home office. I often work until 1 AM here. The problem is that our bird room is next door and they're sleeping ( could be your kids too ) and this thing is pretty loud. It sounds like a hammering sound when you use it. I didn't know that these could be this loud, I'd seen someone else using an electric before and it was very quiet, so I just assumed they all were. Not true apparently. But it works fine, so if it doesn't matter, for example if you're in a regular 9-5 office, this could even help you sound busy and industrious, I suppose. I just wouldn't recommend it for a home office where you work late at night and someone may be sleeping nearby.
Careful: Doesn't take standard staples...
This is a great, easy to use, dependable stapler. Though the staples are cheap, just know that this machine doesn't use "standard" staples that you would use in 90% of other staplers.(Manual Swingline staplers.)
Great buy!
I love my new stapler! Works fabulous but it's too loud to use while working in the middle of the night in my home office. Even with that said, I'd buy it again. It's great!
Great stapler - Excellent price - Noisy
We bought this primarily for light but frequent stapling work in a small office. It staples great but, as one other reviewer pointed out, it's noisy. One benefit, you sure know when it's stapled the papers! It not only saves your hands and wrist when you have a lot of papers to staple, it gives them a professional look. (manual staplers curve the back of the staple and automatic staplers fold flat against the paper.) We have only been using it about a month so no feedback on longevity - no jams so far after about 700 staples.

Shortcomings of Bostitch BB Electric Stapler
We recently purchased the subject stapler for our office. I'm an accountant and during tax season we go through thousands of staples. I like the power of this unit however, it doesn't allow for the staples to be moved closer or further away from the edge. In some instances we need to place the staples further away from the edge and others close to the edge. Other staplers have this function to slide the location of the staples back and forth. Secondly, the unit is top heavy. When placing a large file into the staple area, the stapler unit will move and at times fall over because it isn't well balanced.
Overall we like it but wish it had the features of other staplers that we've used but with the power this unit has.

as good as new
this gun arrived on time and in factory packaging. I have since ran approx. 1000 1 1/2 inch brads and 500 1 1/4 staples through it while building fence. the gun has been flawless!
Crown Stapler
I am a novice woodworker. I carve antique cars. I use this item to build small pieces for my car. It has been very reliable. I have used reconditioned tools in my workshop. In fact I have been able to stock all of my tools by using rebuilt tools. One drawback to getting into woodworking is the cost. I have been able to get all of my tools for under $500. This is a great help in getting started.
Reconditioned 18 GA Combination Nailer/Stapler
The product arrived on time (hurrah for Prime Shipping) and in near-pristine condition; the body of the unit had a couple of minor scratches. I have used the tool a couple of times driving 1-3/16" brads into red oak with perfect results. I am extremely pleased with Amazon's ability to offer reconditioned tools at unheard of prices. I will come back for more in the near future.

Junk
I really didn't expect much for the price, but Bostitch I thought was one of the top tool people so decided to
give it a try. They should have just recalled these, offered a [...] on a better stapler, and protected
their reputation. Being a mechanic I have it cobbled together and it works, but the average person that would
buy a $[...] dollar tool for $[...]would have trashed it. Please Bostitch don't sell your mistakes, it isn't good
business, even if you do it through a third party your name is still on the product!!!
refurbished, not.
I am done buying the so called refurbished products. I believe most products are just sent back out with nothing done to them. Odds are that someone won't bother sending the product back and the company will be rid of it. I was unhappy with the product ( it did not work properly ) and the company was rather unresponsive.I did get my money back but it was a hassle I do not need. I'm a work worker and have other nailers and a shop full of tools so I do know how it should have worked and actually why it didn't. Think hard about buying refurbished tools and and electronics.

Lasted 2.5 whole months. although hardly used
Purchased this stapler from Amazon less than 3 months ago. Comes with no manual or any support material for troubleshooting. Died without a whimper even though used sparingly. Feels like throwing moneay away. AVOID THIS PRODUCT!
Bad design
This seems like a good unit until it starts to not trigger when you try to staple something. the construction is sturdy to say the least. Bombproof actually. The problem is that inside (I broke it apart after it totally failed entirely to work) there is a circuit board that is connected to the trigger. The circuit board is just behind where any fowled up staples will often get ejected to when the unit is triggered but there's no paper to staple into (a symptom you'll likely experience after a while). The problem is that the used staples fall back into the stapler and then land on top of the circuit board which causes it to short out and malfunction (will finally "shoot" the staple seconds after you've triggered it (inserted paper to staple). by the time it "shoots" you've already removed the paper because it's clearly not working correctly. If they'd just somehow cover up the circuit board to keep these stray used staples from landing on it, the unit would be great. stupid design mistake.
