what kind of compressor is compatible with a bostitch floor stapler?

Apr 22, 2008 by eng37ine | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs

Look at the CFM and choose a compressor with a tank that fits it. You might also look at the "duty cycle" (how many minutes of each hour a compressor is rated to run).

Other than that, you'll have to decide if you are running more than one gun and keeping a good stride, or have never done this before and will take a while to set each board, then more time to nail it down.

Just about any compressor would work for it. It just depends on your application and how often. Basically this, If you only plan to use it a couple times a year, I would buy a pancake. But if you use it alot , or have a really big job, I would look at a 10-20 gallon compressor. The main advantage of a larger tank is simply supply and demand. A gun of that nature needs a little more air versus a brad nailer. So the more air it needs, the more the compressor will run. So if it has a bigger storage tank, your need to run will be significantly less, saving electricity, noise and wear and tear of your unit. So with that in mind ......There are multitudes of price ranges, really pending on the compressor unit itself. An ok compressor of this size range could go for 200 bucks, but one this size with a good quality compressor could go as high as 1000 bucks. So again, its back to what you need. But if your a weekend warrior, I would go to lowes/home depot and plunk out 200.00 for the Ok unit with the big tank. Hope that helps.

How do you load a Bostitch PHD-60 heavy duty stapler?

Apr 06, 2009 by A. M. H | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

We don't have the directions/manual and it looks rear-loading but HOW do you load it?

My stapler drove me crazy trying to figure it out, and I had instructions. So maybe yours is like mine. On mine, you slide the "arm" to the rear. You don't put the staples on top of the arm. Instead, you put the staples where the arm was. Then, you slide the arm back. In plain English: WHERE THE ARM WAS. Drop them in the slot there.

I have a Bostitch model P3s stapler from France. It takes SP 19 1/4 staples. Where can I buy these in the UK?

how do i refill a stanley bostitch heavy duty stapler?! PLEASE HELP?

Feb 24, 2009 by raver baby em | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

model B310HDS...please help...for work purposes! Thanks!! =)

There will be a clip at the back of the stapler, undoing that will allow you to slide out the long rod with a spring and staple pusher. Slide a clip of new staples into the stapler then replace the rod and spring assembly.

Stapler or nailer for 3/4" Hardwood flooring?

Jan 26, 2008 by Jer ! | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)

Anyone know whether it is better to buy a stapler or cleat nailer to install 3/4" hardwood floors?

Also who makes the better one, Bostitch or Paslode? Anyone tried the cheap Rona one?

Thanks

My buddys dad owns a hardwood flooring company that mills floors out of old lumber. His men use paslode nailers. I know this guy has plenty money and buys good quality stuff. I helped them put in some floors before.
With wood floors expanding in the heat and contracting in the cold I would choose a nail over a staple.
GOOD LUCK!

Extremely Pleased
It is a nice gun, have used it on a project and love it. Price was right, as was the service
Reconditioned Bostich crown stapler
I really love it. Very very light so its good for overhead work and the staples are stronger than I expected. Overall a great tool and pleasantly suprised at the reconditioned quality. (overall i've had good luck with re-conds from Amazon)
Bostitch Narrow Crown Stapler SX150
I am very pleased with the usual Bostitch quality of product. It is light weight, works well and has a wide range of staples that can be used. I would recommend that you remove and use teflon tape to seal the 1/4" male air nipple, [I discovered a small air leak with mine] otherwise no complaints. It is actually quite nice that the exhaust air is directed back to the rear of the handle next to the 1/4" connector, so no dust blown in the face when working in corners.
Received in bad shape
This arrived in bad shape, looked as if it had just been used, had dirt in it, very disappointing, sent back.

Customer Reviews

Very good product
I was hesitant to buy something like this over the Internet but I was pleasantly surprised. Device is sturdy. I love the guide which actually stays in place between booklets. I would definately recommend this saddlestitch stapler to others.
Perfect for our calendar fund raiser
So far, we've assembled about a gross of calendars for the fundraiser, so it's not really a massive amount of stapling, but no jams to report. Sturdy and does the job.
Finding the correct stables was a problem
The stabler worked. I tried to find heavy duty stables to use in the booklet I was making. Office Max / Depot personnel are idiots. I finely had to settle on normal stables. Would recomend this type over the stabler that looks like a saddle, which had every other stable not work.
Long reach stapler
Great product. I use this for my Science classes when we do posters and projects.
Zan on this - Stanley Long Stapler
This stapler has been around for quite some time. It is an excellent stapler and will staple 50 or more pages very easily. With that said; however, it works best with heavy duty Stanley staples which come in a blue box. They come in various lengths depending on the number of pages to be stapled. To find them type: staples (under the office supplies category) in the Amazon search window.

It will use ordinary staples if thinner staples are needed, but the stapler usually needs be opened up as though one would fill it up with staples between each stapling operation.

It also has a red depth gauge to insure the staples will be in the same place on each booklet.

PS: It is real durable too.

Customer Reviews

Very useful stapler
I bought this stapler after a disappointment with a "refurbished" older model that would drive both staples and brads. Compared to the older one, the SX1838K was easier to use in terms of putting the staples exactly where I wanted them and particularly for providing good countersinking of the fasteners. It also does not require oiling, which avoids the possibility of staining the work. I use the stapler in my home shop for cabinet making and a variety of day to day fastening needs. I found the 7/32" staple and this stapler to be something I count on and use often, usually along with glue, to get a strong, tight joint very quickly, without having the confusion of clamping up the pieces and driving a screw.

Customer Reviews

No Jams - Great Stapler
I purchased this stapler a couple of months ago and use it nearly every day. It's used with the 1/4" staples and they hold two to thirty plus pages. Staples well with thick bond and thin newsprint papers. I recommend this for general purpose stapling.
Better than expected
Excellent stapler. Staples with authority. The only slightly disappointing thing is the inability to staple sheets at a 45 degree angle -- the optical sensor will not trip if it is more than a few degrees off of a straight angle. But wow, this is one of the few that I actually believe can staple through 45 sheets, or at a minimum 40. Totally impressive, given the price of competing units of similar capacity. Very pleased with my purchase. The PowerCrown staples seem to make a difference too. The tips really are like small chisels, and even though they have a crown at the top (basically a slightly convex bend in the normally flat top of the staple), once it hits the sheet the thing lays flatter than any other staple I've seen before. Really awesome to see technology operate successfully at this small, relatively mundane level.
DON'T LET ANYONE KNOW YOU HAVE THIS
I am a teacher and this is awesome for the packets that I make. The kids "beg" to staple their own papers; you just have to watch them.... I had one boy put 20 staples in 4 sheets of paper.....while I was distracted.
I stapled 30 sheets with the 1/4 in. and got 50 with the 3/8 in. I just sealed the back with duck tape so that it wouldn't rip through. It's as good as a bound book.
Great product, and when high school students can get excited over a stapler....
that alone is worth it.

Bostitch B8 Electric Stapler
I really like it. Although I haven't tried 45 sheets at a time, it goes through 30 very confidently. The only thing I wish is that it had an adjustment lever because sometimes I would like to be able to staple a little closer to the edge. All in all it is great; the rubber feet hold it firmly to the counter, and it hasn't jammed at all.B8 Heavy-Duty Electric Stapler Value Pack, 45 Sheet Cap, Black
Good stapler
This is a nice and resonably priced electric stapler. I do have two complaints one it is a little louder then I was hoping and the trigger for the staple is to the right of the actual staple punch which makes it vertually imposiable to staple the corner of a sheet at 45%! Other then that I am very happy with this product.

Customer Reviews

Excellent product, but read this for staple recommendations
We bought this one over the more expensive competitor based on the reviews here. We were not disappointed: This stapler easily binds our booklets which have 10 sheets (20 pages) plus a heavy cover. 100% satisfaction, five stars.

Now, for staples. We had a box of cheap staples hanging around. These don't penetrate the paper very well. Name brand staples with nice sharp points work fine. If the staple doesn't drive cleanly and easily through 10+ sheets, try another brand. Please note, purchase only .25inch staples for this stapler, it doesn't handle longer staples.
Utter garbage
I've had this stapler for about 6 months, now, and it was probably one of the biggest wastes of money in which I have ever engaged. I am a small home publisher of game books, and wanted a saddle-stapler to fasten them myself, rather than taking them to Kinko's every time I needed a job done.

The stapler claims it goes through 20 sheets of paper. I can't make it go through ten (or the equivalent thereof--9 sheets and a sheet of 100 lb cover stock) without the staples crunching up and not going all the way through. It's true it hasn't yet jammed on me, but what's the point of anti-jam if the thing DOESN'T ACTUALLY STAPLE THROUGH MULTIPLE SHEETS OF PAPER??

I've tried being gentle, I've tried being forceful, I've even tried pounding the thing, to no avail. Don't waste your money on this product--you're better off with a basic "long reach" stapler with a width guide attachment such as the Swingline model found here:

http://www.amazon.com/Swingline-Stapler-Adjustable-Locking-S7034121P/dp/B0006HUPRA/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=office-products&qid=1257458847&sr=8-3

We have the Swingline model at my current job and I have never had issues with it.
Close to "AntiJam", but Not Quite...
I received the item quickly and used it to staple several hundred eight-page booklets with cover. It worked well until there were about eight staples left in the stapler, and then it started to jam. Once the stapler was reloaded, everything worked well, until there were about eight staples left.

Good price, however, and otherwise a perfectly functional stapler.
For making small booklets, pamphlets - this is the best!
I needed a stapler that would be useful in asssembling a small, 8 page pamphlet. This works exactly as advertised and it came at a great price.

Very Solid Saddle Stapler! Highly Recommended!
The "Stanley Bostitch Standard Booklet Stapler" is a very solid (read heavy) saddle stapler that makes binding pamphlets and booklets a breeze!

This stapler is very well made and is mostly metal. No worries about this stapler shifting when being used since the rubber feet and weight ensure that this will not be likely to budge.

We have not had any jamming problems or failures of any type.

Highly recommended! For those looking for a very light use stapler for pamphlets and booklets, consider SPR01316 - Long Reach Stapler, 20 Sht Cap, Standard Staples,Putty/Black.
