Which is better for bamboo flooring, a floor stapler gun or a floor nail gun?
May 18, 2007 by nicko | Posted in Decorating & Remodeling
I did one room with the nail gun that required the use of a mallet but seems so time consuming. I was wondering is the use of a floor stapler gun would do as good as a job. The bamboo floor is stronger than the wood. Would the staples go in?
Here are instructions for BOTH nailed or stapled bamboo flooring. Good luck with your new floor! You will love it.
I doubt the staples would go in without splitting the bamboo but you can try one staple and see if it holds good and if not just you the nail gun.

Stapler or nailer for 3/4" Hardwood flooring?
Jan 26, 2008 by Jer ! | Posted in Do It Yourself (DIY)
Anyone know whether it is better to buy a stapler or cleat nailer to install 3/4" hardwood floors?
Also who makes the better one, Bostitch or Paslode? Anyone tried the cheap Rona one?
Thanks
My buddys dad owns a hardwood flooring company that mills floors out of old lumber. His men use paslode nailers. I know this guy has plenty money and buys good quality stuff. I helped them put in some floors before.
With wood floors expanding in the heat and contracting in the cold I would choose a nail over a staple.
GOOD LUCK!

what kind of compressor is compatible with a bostitch floor stapler?
Apr 22, 2008 by eng37ine | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
Look at the CFM and choose a compressor with a tank that fits it. You might also look at the "duty cycle" (how many minutes of each hour a compressor is rated to run).
Other than that, you'll have to decide if you are running more than one gun and keeping a good stride, or have never done this before and will take a while to set each board, then more time to nail it down.

bought power floor stapler on ebay for $140 plus $43 shipping, Did I pay to much?
Jul 13, 2008 by rallman@sbcglobal.net | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
probably off brand
If you put in a single floor with it yourself rather than having somebody else do it, it will have paid for itself many times over.
So I wouldn't worry about it if you can look at it that way.

Floor Stapler?
Mar 31, 2008 by Don Glarr | Posted in Maintenance & Repairs
What gauge staples/cleats should I use to put down a 5/8 inch bamboo flooring? Can floor staplers accommodate a range of gauges?
I think you should use your nail gun. It's so cool. I wish I owned a nail gun!

Great Tool
Great tool right out of the box. But do yourself a favor and get the Bostitch staples !!!
Great and Easy To Use Tool
I bought this after giving up being on a waiting list two weeks to rent one from a local hardware store. Glad I bought it. Not only is it a great tool and easy to use, but since I don't have to worry about returning a rental, I can take my time on the installation. I had never done this before, but it's been very easy installing the 3/8 engineered flooring I purchased for our remodel. I've put in about 800 square feet without any problems. Even my 9 year old son has had no problems operating this tool. If you are going install new 3/8" hardwood, save yourself a samll fortune by buying one of these and doing it yourself.

Nice Product
Product arrived on time and in great condition. I am installing Brazilian Teak which is extremely hard. The gun has had a couple of mis-fires which were likely user error combined with the fact that this is extremely hard wood. This gun feels like it is a product designed to be a quality product meant to be used everyday. At the same time, the mag body allows it to be lightweight.

A quality tool for professionals
The main cause of malfunction for this kind of tool is the user's air compressor. Either it isn't drained regularly, isn't set to the proper pressure, or isn't sufficient to use this tool. Those are the primary reasons for the described malfunctions. This is a first rate nailer for those who use quality equipment and maintain it properly.
Buying this product without knowing the availability of the staples is an amateur mistake. Don't knock the product because of it. Those of us who use these tools for a living know that they need maintainence from time to time. The weekend warrior who bought and returned 3 of these to use with his cheapo compressor should weigh his time/money against the cost of hiring a profesional.
It works but has some problems.
It will staple engineered flooring down but be prepared for more than a few bent and twisted staples. Unless you apply heavy pressure against the flooring the bent staples will damage the edge and you will need to remove it. Perhaps I have a lemon and you will have better luck than I did. Hope it works better for you than it did for me.

Wicked Reliable
I have had mine for about seven years and it has never given me any trouble. These things have a lot of power and really get the boards together nice and tight. Another nice thing is that the staples are available at Home Depot etc. I have put in countless floors and even lent it out several times and it still works great. I am about to purchase a second one and can't wait to try it with the prefinished floor foot that it now comes with. Tip: You usually use these in combination with a finish nailer (for the starting and ending rows). You can blind nail with the finish nailer. I usually take the rubber tip off to get in close. I use a Hitachi 15 gauge angled finish nailer and when I get too close to the far wall for the Hitachi I switch to a smaller straight 16 gauge finish nailer. I also keep an 18 gauge finish nailer handy for when a board is ripped down to where I am worried about splitting it (face nailing it). Good luck.
A good deal on flooring stapler
I was familiar with this tool and was happy to find a good deal on a reconditioned one. It has served flawlessly for two thousand square feet of cherry flooring, and I anticipate selling it locally for what I paid when I'm done with this project. Excellent service on the sale as well. No complaints whatsoever.http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0000224PN/ref=cm_cr_rev_prod_title
contractor grade
This is the real thing, what the professional hardwood installers use. Easy to use with an air compressor unit. Got it at a great price from amazon, compared to Home Depot and Lowes. Used it to finish my Study and now plan to do the rest of first level floors and the stairs. I recommend this model (stapler) compared to the floor nailer.

Flooring Stapler
Instructions could be improved (small print and figures difficult to read). Stapler loading not intuitive. Must keep shoe flat on new flooring (not sub-floor), if not may staple on surface. If new user, practice on mock-up recommended. Once I got going (learning curve) tool worked good - no mis-fires.
Greatest thing since sliced bread!
The first time I did floor, I went with the gluing route and what a sticky pain in the rear that was... 700sqft took months. This time I lucked out and have a wood sub-floor. We went with 5/16" solid Brazilian Mountain Teak... and this stapler has been wonderful. Pounds in the staples to the perfect depth with just 80 psi. Fast and clean (180sqft done in about 16 hours). This stapler is very light and slides well on the tongue. Over the course of 2600 staples, I had no jams, but it did misfire once where it fired two at once - send a spark flying a good foot. "The price was right" - even with overnight shipping.

Don't buy direct from Ramsond!
I bought direct from Ramsond and the tool arrived with a hole in the housing. I didn't open the package and find the defect until (2) weeks after it arrived. My mistake! Ramsond will try and charge you shipping back to them plus a $35 inspection fee plus shipping back to you unless you report the defect within (1) day. Even if you report defects within (1) day you still pay for shipping to them plus the $35 inspection fee! I'm not making that up, check their web policy. That adds up to between $60 to $80 even if the tool is defective right from the factory. Ouch!
It appears Ramsond makes a good product but their customer service is terrible. I felt like a thief just trying to get them to work with me.
Buy from Amazon, they have customer service which works.

Floor nailer
I laid 260 square feet of floor and never had one problem. The nailer worked great and was easy to use. I could have rented, but by the time I would have finished the floor, I would have paid for the gun. Now I can do the dining room and living room floors with no additional cost.
A very nice floor nailer
I have now used this nailer to put down 700 sq ft of hardwood flooring in my daughter's house in Hawaii. It worked perfectly with only one adjustment needed on my part. The single adjustment was adding a thin shim to the floor plate to make the staples hit the correct spot at the base of the tongue in the 1/2 inch thick flooring. the included manual was very close on the actual air pressure settings needed and had a section on how to clear a jammed staple which we needed to do twice. The cost of the tool plus shipping to Hawaii was less than the rental cost of a floor nailer in Honolulu for 4 days and we can resell the tool afterward. What a great way to spend the winter months of New Hampshire away from the snow and ice, laying hardwood floor.
great tool
BOUGHT THE RAMSOND FLOOR NAILER TO INSTALL A HARDWOOD FLOOR IN MY HOME.I WAS A LITTLE NERVOUS AT FIRST IN ATTEMPTING TO DO A MAJOR FLOOR INSTALATION, WITH THE RAMSOND FLOOR NAILER IT MADE THE JOB EASY,NO JAMS OR MISFIRES THE ONLY BAD THING THE JOB TURN OUT SO WELL MY WIFE WANT ME TO DO THE OTHER ROOMS GREAT FLOOR NAILER FOR THE PRICE.
Good floor nailer for diy'er
Purchased to lay ~800 sq ft of 3/4" prefinished oak (5" wide planks) in my house. Worked well, used 2" staples. Comes with bases for different thickness flooring. Unfortunately, even when using the base for 3/4" flooring, we still had to 'shim' the base with several layers of duct tape to get the flooring staples to go in at the correct place on the tongue of the flooring. This was mentioned in other Amazon reviews as well (and the instructions for the flooring we nailed down), but it is something to note. If you are nailing down the flooring and tearing up the tongues of the wood, break out the duct tape :). Other than that, nailer seems well made, and not "plasticky". I couldn't justify paying $400-500 for a name-brand nailer for what I was doing. I'm nailing down 4 seperate rooms of flooring, each on a weekend, and the cost of this nailer covers what it would have cost me to rent one.

Akuzuki Hardwood Floor Flooring Stapler & Cleat Nailer
I purchased this nailer to install 1500 square foot of 3/4 solid walnut for a customer. Rental fees would have exceeded the cost to purchase this nailer and based on the reviews, it seemed like a decent choice (and it was about the only type of nailer I didn't own yet...). Nailer arrived within a couple days. Case is nice and contains most everything needed to maintain the tool. Tool even comes with an industrial standard air fiting installed.
It drove nearly every cleat perfectly and I only had one jamb that was caused by my lightly bumping the striker (which will partially drive a fastener) and then striking it for real - jamb was easily cleared by removing one plate with the tools provided. I used only Bostitch cleats.
I noticed that it didn't sit perfectly flat on the flooring with the base plate provided so I added a shim made from high pressure laminate (Formica) between the base plate and the nailer. The addition of that shim made the nailer sit perfectly on the wood. I didn't use it without but it shouldn't make too much of a difference.
The mallet provided with my nailer was very good and I had no problems with it at all as some of the others reported.; maybe they got the word. I did use it hard and for the entire 1500 sq. ft.
Now, the one flaw. I read some other reviews where they stated that the nailer started leaking air. This one did too but only intermittently. It would sometimes bleed a little air when the safety trigger remained compressed between shots. The leaking air did not affect the ability to drive fasteners at all and came and went about three times per room - not a big deal but a bit annoying. I did not rebuild the nailer with the o-rings provided. Figured I wait until it really didn't work.
I would recommend this nailer for the serious DIYer or the occasional flooring install for a remodeling contractor like myself.
Great Nail Gun for the price.
After renting a nail gun locally over the past year and installing Oak, Hickory and Bamboo in our house, I decided that it made sense to buy rather then rent. So we do not have to rush the job and get the nailer back to the rental shop. One Sunday we stayed up until 3am so we could finish the flooring installation and get the nail gun back in time Monday morning.
I ordered the Akuzuki floor stapler and nail gun. It is easy to use and you can load both staples or nails/cleats and use on different sizes of flooring I.E. 5/8 or 3/4. I have used it to install Maple and the only problem I had with it was that it left small indentations on the wood from the base plate. I found that I might have been putting too much weight on the base plate with my foot to hold it in place and keep it from rebounding. I also put some duct tape on the hard plastic base plate to soften it a bit. That seemed to work.
In the end I am very pleased with this nail gun and now I can start a project when I want and can avoid the time, gas and hassle of going to a rental shop. I still have some bamboo, mahogany and more maple to install so I am hoping.

Excellent reliable nailer
I installed 3 bedrooms of hardwood flooring in about 4 - 5 days with no issues. The nailer worked flawlessly and the results look great! I suggest this tool to anyone looking for a do it yourself flooring nailer. Don't spend more for a Bostich when this nailer works great.

So Far, So Good
I received the Akuzuki nailer quickly and was in good shape. As others noted, the manual is kind of lacking in quality & details. The tool appears to be of Harbour Freight quality (which is what I expected). I have a bad back and only have 500 sq ft of 3/4" oak flooring to lay so I wanted an alternative to renting (working constant till finished). I started and so far it's working fine. Hopefully I get the rest of the floor laid w/o any problems.

Q: I was browsing the Web for verve-efficient lodgings products and found many companies selling something called a effulgent barrier. It hypothetically cuts out most of a home's air-conditioning and heating costs. I never heard of these things, but curiosity if this can really be some genus of "miracle" work that works as well as these people declare. What do you know about them?
A: I've absolutely had experience with dazzling barriers since 1983, and back then a new application was growing to scram, sell and connect these systems. One of the problems at the even so, though, was that many companies were claiming benefits of the products far beyond what they could ever absolutely offer.
Builders have been using discomfit materials in homes for many, many years to cut down on the well forth of hot air into a home. What happened 30 or so years ago was that researchers discovered that putting foil significant in the attic and adding an airspace around it greatly improved its appearance in stopping the tide of hot air from the roof into the attic, and then on into the home ground's living hiatus. The analogy regularly given is the design of cooking a turkey. You keep pull the rug out from under someone wrapped rigorously panty hose around the turkey until it is honourable about done, then remove the lamina so that the heat cooks the front of the meat. It's this capability faculty of foil to finish the flow of torridness that led to the finding about its peculiar ability to keep a diggings cooler in hot unwell.
Now before I answer your suspicions about and get too negative, let me say that I mull over radiant wall systems are naturally wonderful and perhaps even essential in homes in hot climates, but I desideratum to explain two of the concepts in this punishment in a little more detail.
